Where do you read this? What I read on other blog, it is taxable.

Still clueless, TAXable or not?
*
capital repayment is definitely not taxable, if taxable then come chop my head laugh.gif

I think it was discuss before. If Ex-Div = taxable.

If sell at high before Ex. Then buy back after Ex. Realised profit, but lose some on comm+fees+uncertainty. But won't get taxed  hmm.gif
*
LOL!!! how many shares you hold? the tax rate really matters so much? biggrin.gif

RM90k worth of it... Bought extra by mistake.
*
around 25k units?

14.25 cents/share means around RM3.5k dividends. 25% tax means the tax is less than RM1k

Ya, really cannot sustain. Lucky I wasn't greedy for first time and sold my KNM so fast. smile.gif

Added on May 18, 2009, 4:26 pm

Dividend = 3562.5 - 890.63 (tax). Capital Repayment will return back 24,500. That will automatically reduce my holdings of this share.
*
the capital repayment will reduce the trading value of the share (RM4.00 - RM0.98), so that the ex-cap repayment price will be lower than before

however the share holding will still remain at 25k units

QUOTE(virtualgay @ May 18 2009, 04:39 PM)
since tax so high on dividend.. why not sell it before the EX date?
*
if you plan to keep it for long term growth... selling means will involve transaction costs

1k/90k... that's immaterial

QUOTE(virtualgay @ May 18 2009, 04:45 PM)
after capital repayment the share value will drop but will the dividend factor into the drop as well?
*
i think so, since the company has just paid dividend, it can be said not so attractive anymore....

selling will involve cost, reinvest those cash into another stock will involve cost as well. Therefore plan well before you take action
