I went to Unity Design last week. Louise attended to me and received my design and quotation. Very pleasant thumbup.gif

I will be contacting Patric (Erny's bro, I think) for site measurement. However, my question is: Is it advisable to only call for site measurement after I've decided on what hood+hob+oven that I'll be buying, so that they can incorporate the right size for those items in the measurement? unsure.gif

Hope someone can share some light here. thanks!

I believe the hood and hob can be later part. cos they will only make the hole after the cabinet install.
but for oven, if u wan to build in oven in your cabinet, i believe they need to know the actual dimension.

if u have the oven in ur mind now, maybe u can go to their website to get the dimension.

Mind to share your kitchen design here?

Thanks wrb7878 for the advise...I'm still in the midst of searching for the right items.

Another forumer recommended Fotile range at a good price..just that as I'm living in an apartment, I have limited space thus slimhood is more suitable..so still looking.

I'll attach the design next. Attached Image

oic....but the size of hood/hod should not much diff at market. i believe the size should almost same like top cabinet ....

So what material for your KC? laminated?

Saw your dish plate next to the cooking area. will your clean plate will have many oils later?
*
I think it's laminated hmm.gif .

Noted on the dish plate near cooking area...when they do the proper site measurement, i'd probably ask them to push further the hob. However, I don't think it would be that oily as I'm not into chinese cooking ie deep frying fish etc.

As for the hood, Fotile doesn't have the slimhood range (like in the drawing).

Hi,

I notice your countertop for the Hob is slightly (2-3 inch?) lower than the countertop for sink. Is that design by purpose to cater for feng shui? (because according to chinese feng shui the hob - fire level should be lower than the sink- water level, sort of)

Nowadays I saw a lot countertop design is flat level for both hob & sink, therefore i am puzzled how to figure the 'water' and 'fire' level.....is the sink  or the water tap considered the 'water' level?

Need advice from sifus here happy.gif
*
Hi there,

The reason is that the top with the sink was actually done by previous owner (without doors), so now i'm adding on the doors and the hob side plus the cabinets below and above. No Feng Shui reasoning...kekeke..

This is only the initial drawings based on my measurement and info that i gave to them when I visited the showroom. I'll be calling them for site measurement as I think they need to see what are the existing fixtures in my kitchen - ie there's a gas pipe (my apartment has centralised gas pipe to every unit). It's located at where the gas hob is going to be..so I think they will have to figure out how to incorporate those things.

Sigh...this is my first reno..and i'm still learning and it's not easy...thank god for this thread. REally need all your advise.

wrb7878, with whom did you do your kitchen with?

Not this year...hopefully next year...tight budget..slowly doing bit by bit. However, was thinking of doing a built-in shoe cabinet with storage at the top - provided i don't blow my budget for my kitchen - sweat.gif

I need to do the cabinet for the bar too...got the bar table from Ikea..but need the cabinet for the glasses & liquors

I already move in to my house 1 year plus...so now slowly doing the house up..wish I got lots of moolah so that I can do all in one go...no need to wait for year-end B$$

Was a bit suprised to see this as i tot UD always deliver satisfaction to customer in terms value & quality.

Hope UD will fix this issue for u. Guess too much order for them especially lotsa ppl rush b4 CNY. Iam one of them, in the schedule to fix site measurement with Erny this week... hmm.gif
*
I'm also trying to fix a date for site measurement..but looks like they are very busy. I'll be only doing my KC after CNY..don't want to go in with the rush as I know then the quality will drop.

my installation finish yesterday with Erny personally fixed the wine glass holder at my house..was able to ask erny bout the installation that has gone wrong.apparently there's some mix-up at the factory and something has gone awfully wrong. Fret not ADJ as we are the customer and i trust they will do their best to right their wrong. These are quite busy time for them and Erny said they have to advise some of their customer request after CNY. I don't think they would want to purposely tarnish their reputation, especially here in LYN.

I think most importantly for any businesses is that they admit and rectify their mistake as this shows that they are very sincere and genuine in conducting their business - not just any fly-by-night company.

Understood.

Was planning to get my kitchen done with minimum cabinets so I won't buy alot of gadgets/pots&pans/cutleries etc.
*
Hahhaa...I was also thinking of the same..don't want to spend on alot of pots & pans..kekeek..but I think...once I start doing my kitchen, i'll sure buy more...

Shazzac, have you chosen which KC contractor?

Hey,

Not yet. Coz my place won't be ready till mid of 2013. Just going around Forums and seeing how the KC contractors are and pricing wise.

This is so I will know how much to budget for instead of blowing everything that I have on my travels.

But I might go with Signature Kitchen. Heard from alot of friends that their quality and workmanship is good.
*
Ooo..Signature Kitchen is my dream..but not much moolah cry.gif

Thankfully for this forum that I heard about UD and know about a thing or two from the sifus here.

strangely i don't see the value of paying so much for signature kitchen..
I've visited UD but ended up choosing d-format for our dry/wet kitchen...  A lot of times the installer plays a great role to decide whether you are getting a product worths its money or you are getting a lemon eventhough it is from a reputatable company.
*
Hi numbertwo...care to share your experiene and photos of your kitchen by d format? biggrin.gif

My kitchen cabinet is finally completed after granite installation. I would say the overall workmanship, materials used and customer service are superb. Kudos to Erny and his team!

We are satisfied with the outcome, however, I might need his service again as my GF complaints storage of our wardrobes. Perhaps, we need to make a bigger size one in due time!! Just like what Erny experienced himself!  tongue.gif
Also thanks to Ah Ming and other workers.
Highly recommended cabinet expert!!!
