Is it suitable to use Maica material as the table top in the kitchen? what are the pros and cons if compared to concrete top or solid surface?

For granite kitchen top of width 2 feet (600 mm), can I get a sink with width 500 mm and cut a hole of 470mm? Someone told me that 130 mm space might not enough, if I chop something on the kitchen top, it might break...is it true? ^^
