if there will b comparison between all these kc, it should be categorized as below;
a) hospitality (the way they treat us when we are at their showroom)
b) friendliness ( the way the comm with us)
c) thruthfullness (telling us the comparison of products without trying to gain money)
d) honesty (giving us the true opinion and not just say ok for everything)
e) punctuality
f) calculative (are they goin to be calculative for very minor things ?)
g) after sales service

i seriously think we cant compare much on the price as its very subjective as per the customer. Some customes wants expensive type and maybe others looking for cheap but good looking its always depend on customes needs.

just my 2 cents.

I do agree that most of company out there like to cheat us by lots diff kind of materials.
melamine, chipboard, compressed wood... they're all same.... rclxub.gif

yeah u have ur every right to not paying money before measurement, since the markets got a lots of type of player ...... some may insists u to pay, some may even no need to pay until u satisfy with what u take. 40-50% is really the standard in the market for downpayment.... if ur total costs of goods is 1.5k i think 500 shud be not a problem for them to accept but if the amount was up to 10k would u think 500 will be enough for them to proceed the fabrication work? or put it this way if u're the boss and u're selling KC would u accept an order of 10k with 500 deposits? i bet u will said NO NO NO cause once u said u dunwan the KC already so the BOSS can sell the KC to others consumers? NO NO again coz this is customs made for u, it might not suite the size and the taste of the consumer!!! Of course dun simply place 40% deposit to whoever said they are doing KC, u need to survey their reputation mah. it's ur money, u made the choice.........  nod.gif

all these is based on trust..
the best way for me is.. u have to know what u want 1st. nowdays internet, email, phone is so convenient. why don give a call to 3-4 company 1st, let them explain to you. then tell them wht u want. roughly get price from them.
or u can simply draft a simple measurement send to them. let them know wht material u want to use.
basicly, if u find u r hard to trust anyone. do some research lo.. so easy to get info online.
as i know. there are 2 diff type of wood.

1) melamine = chipboard = compressed wood (heavier, as its compressed, and have gum inside) suitable to do wardrobe, study table. as its both side lamite with formeka.

2) Block Board = Solid Wood (Lighter, made from real solid wood, 1 side white colour, and another sides is ur choice u Formeka laminate.

solid wood- RM 160/ftr
melamine- RM 130/ftr
(base unit and top unit are same price) except u already have concrete table.

If u have concrete table
solid wood- RM110/ftr include doors & drawers
melamine- RM 80/ftr include doors & drawers.Attached Image Attached Image

3G (added glass on formeka come with aluminium frame) for 20ft cabinets. usually need to + RM700-RM800

RM6500 for 12ft melamine cabinet?
assume tht granite is RM190/ftr = 12x RM190 =RM 2280
12ft Melamine board (ChipBoard) base =(RM6500-RM2280)/12=RM175

Need your expert advice guys smile.gif

Currently my kitchen is having a concrete top, does that mean I have to use solid surface and I can't use cheaper solution such as laminated top?

1st, if u want cheaper.. then i suggest u just put tiles.. 2x2 tiles now days got so many choice.. some look like granite.

Your Concrete top with tiles?? OR not???

1) If Yes, then u can just do a drawer and door to cover it. usually - RM110-RM120 per feet run for this. (solid block board wood)
2) If not, u can add on a solid surface top on it.
3) If u already have tiles, and u really like solid surface. (No problem for this) but i think this is waste. unless the tiles of ur tabel top is old.. and u plan to change.

Solid surface is RM140/feet run.

seems like nobody answer your questions, maybe i can help ....

High-gloss: is using MDF board as the base material and after spray painted it will give u a glossy finishing. but MDF board is very sensitive to water which is also its main disadvantage beside this it will be very hard to maintain in the longer run coz will scratch very easily and very troublesome to touch up once scratch.

Arcylic: is another type of material which made from plastics materials but higher grade type (dunno the scientificaly name) which can use many types of base materials to produce like aluminum frame, plywood, melamine board aka chipboard, and even mdf but this is rare due to the above issues icon_idea.gif

So conclusion Arcylic and High-gloss is not the same product !!!!

Anyone can guess Solid wood and solid board is the same??? anyone wanna try to answer this? whistling.gif

Haha. Nice description.

Your question is hard to answer... See how the contractor define those..
For me.. its mostly same. both is really solid wood.
If u define solid wood - 1 piece of solid wood then solid board is not same.
solid board - few piece of long solid wood stick together become one piece of board.

Laminated top.. cannot tahan lama!!! Not encourage to do that. since u already have concrete top.
usually kitchen don use laminated top. because it cannot tahan water and heat.
unless u don have a basin and cooker there.

Hi Everyone,

I need your advise on this build in wardrobe. My wardrobe just done today, but I found a very weird part.
Do you think is it normal to have such a thick side ending as in the picture highlighted? It's about 3inches.

You are a kitchen/wardrobe expert. What is your opinion ? Is this normal ?

NO,this is not normal. but

1st-need to measure is it the wardrobe they make same wide wif the quotation??

2nd- usually the contractor will go ur house and measure the exact size of your area. normally this won't happen.

Had u ask ur contractor?? he got any explain or not??? maybe something blocked??
