IINM,
after the warranty period, the iPhone can still be repaired, and we do still need to request for a replacement set / replacement parts via the authorised carrier (here, that's Maxis)

petergoh
drop by your nearest Maxis Centre (NOT Maxis Partner)
request a repair.
they'll check it out... if its damage, then you'll need to pay for the repair.

Maxis Locations here

Please ask for iPhone 3G repairs ONLY at Maxis Centre, not Maxis Exclusive Partner.

AFAIK, AppleCare for iPhone only covers (in SE Asia at least) Singapore-purchased sets.

yes, Apple has a database that shows where your iPhone was originally sold, so even though I tried smile.gif ... its not gonna fly.

why would Maxis offer an extended warranty? more to the point, where would they get the parts and technical info, since Apple is just replacing iPhone sets, here in Malaysia?

personally, having known people like wei & some others who do 3rd party repairs, I'll trust them with my iPhone... they really do know what they're doing, which is more than I can say about Maxis.

@yvonne
do contact Apple directly 1800 803 638 and get them involved.
if that fails, call Maxis CS and give them a deadline (maybe 24 hours) after which you will go to the police and report them for negligence (lost your property)

that's what I would do if any company can't tell me exactly where my stuff is, after I claimed warranty.
