bush button sounds good, but is it reliable? i hate it when my buch of keys starts swinging when i drive over bumpy roads.

normal key start can modify to push start rite?
*
Yup.. aftermarket avails, here its about 400sgd..iirc..

QUOTE(phelix @ Sep 17 2009, 12:40 PM)
can modify but i heard u still need to insert ur key then push the start button...
correct me if i'm wrong.. sound stupid tho...

Added on September 17, 2009, 12:41 pm
how much it cost to you?
i really like smart entry + push start.
*
heard of this too.. but iirc.. newer push start system dun need to do this anymore...
original system from AD cost 1k! but they kind of throw in some more goodies...

yes, i agree... forte/koup should have the entry at 2.0...
but there are many factors to a market demand such as Duty, Tax structure, Cost of use.. etc...
Generally this applies to countries / cities where car is a premiums and
it applies to all brands. i.e SG Civic comes in 1.6 too.. Camry in 2.0? BMW 5 series in 2.0!!
Good thing is that Forte 1.6 is actually very very efficient (at the expense of power of course) and is running in <~8l/100km easily... (12.5Km/l combine). and for the 2.0 its like 9~10l/100km so.. as this makes the car much more affordable... considering we save on road tax, ins etc etc... too...

cheers.

Burgerlim,

Wat is ur mileage now? Any special service requirement? Like need more than 4L engine oil and etc? Some renault engine require more than 5L engine oil.

Thks
*
nope... normal oil requirements, 3.5l and you know..i am surprised when they always overfilled the engine oil !!! after even highlighting before servicing.. so.. thumbup.gif

for those wonder of 1.6 performance, please rest assured its there..for most of us here or better than most 1.6 to date.. as its one with the higher output.. with plenty of torque from low end.. (but please step harder for the engine to know that... it seems, BUT FC is again heavily affected.. just been driving like tat for the past few days and the meter shoots to about 9+l/100km..haa..

hi. LeongWk

Stock system is great.. superb for the price... unit comes with Speed depending sound...(aka.. faster == lounder), bass is super..(only stock speaker no cross over... and its paper cone.. so.. a change on that will sure thumbup.gif

Sori, we decided to postpond that to Nov.. but some other member tried that... i see no problem at all.. its getting better by the day i drive.. (1mth now). but at >150kph.. sound could be intruding but ok.. still much better then my waja.. to me..).. not too sure of altis/civic..though..

Hi, All... been a little busy lately..hee..

Yes, depending, SX comes with climate control.. but with little peculiar programming (too much thinking..) haa.. the system will insist on fresh air whenever you select auto (unless under full fan... to cool down the car that it switch to internal for a short while.) maybe korea less jam.? air fresher ? haaa... but as soon as you select internal circulation.. it will continue to work in auto mode for the rest .. temp, fan etc etc..

Sorry not too sure of the brands.. (if CKD then hard to say liao.. cos according to man... some default comes w/o A/c) but its certainly a good one.. no complain so far... even better is that the unit controls up to 0.5 deg step... and the control is fantastic... like fan speed, air channeling...

but i do not think its water based.. as it still uses R134..(ozon safe gas), just that the compressor kicks in and out v.smoothly.. that you dun hear the tick tick sound..(yes..my waja makes that sound!), see.. sometime its too good then we all fault the thing...haaa... but you will feel the car is heavier (some engine power goes to a/c compressor, one bad point for 1.6! haaa... ). dual zone..(hot and cold) is v.common for countries with 4 seasons like korea . china . tw.. etc.. what the ac do is just reverse the process.. (a/c is just doing heat transfer ya?).

Hope these helps..

If possible (hope I am not asking too much) you may look into compressor unit in the engine compartment to check the brand.
well.. can, prop post a photo for you? cool2.gif

So, how is your FC nowadays? Improving as per your mileage goes?
yes... it now hovers around 12~13km (~7.8 to 9l/100) full highway still ~6+ only.. but power is def much better by the day...(still working on 1st and 2nd gear... still quite tight.. as of now..)

BTW,

1) Is your car come with climate control in digital display? yes, thought you join ceratosg forum? so many reference there... check it out..
2) Your steering is telesopic, where it can be adjust in and out? This is useful for tall ppl as they nd to push the seats back. Most car comes with steering which is only good for up and down. Yes, but for SX only.. since i am the only driver so not useful....
3) What brand of tyres do you get? Msia is getting Silverstone..... so-so only. sure? silverstone? we got Kumho (kimchi tyre..) very good performance... wet is much better (maybe 17" helps) no panning at all.. at 80.. but side wall is very soft.. and kerb prone.. so... be careful...
4) 6 CD audio player come with USB & Aux in should be standard for all model. USB/Ipod yes.. only SX get 6 discs (it read mp3 cd.. whistling.gif ). (but new batch all comes with 1 since.. usb stick is so convenience... so..no issue i think...
5) Is your side mirror auto shut close/collapse when turn off key? Nope..local dun get, its aftermarket from local AD, mine dun have.. thinking to install... btw.. for those here.. is any japan make (toyota/ honda) retract soft type.. meaning.. can still flip manually?....
yes.. key retract..

6) The cabin light will dim and switch off once all car doors are closed? It does not just switch off, rite? Nope.. it just off... or fast fade... ??!! unsure.gif

If its launched this, I am hoping to get the CBU version but ride for 2 months den rugi a year of depreciation.

Looking forward.. to see... more.. on the road.. here price been up by almost 10K for the last 4months.. thumbup.gif

you are right, this is how some of the systems works.

pro:
- consistent temperature control, more comfort
- cooling coil on all the time, able to remove mositure and keep the cabin air dry
- temp regulation using radiator hot water, indirectly able to partially cool down the hot water
- relatively better reliability, as the clutch no need to cut in and out frequently
- can get warm air if outdoor temperature is cold

cons:
- more fuel consumption as the compressor runs all the time

yup, problem on the first few batches but they have fixed it now.

haa... seriously start stop traffic not good to anycar... i am not sure of spectra 5, but i got some 15~18l/100km... in jam (for 2 hours like) cos.. it based on engine running time to travel dist to calculate that..
400km / tank i think its low.. somehow... but is that based on your manual calculation? or meter reading.?

manual calculation , from full tank to empty tank ..400km..used up rm 78 which is 43.33 litre, about 10.8L/100km , the meter reads about 10 only.

i think thats the bad part of having a heavy car in start stop condition.
*
I think so, then... depending on the traffic... 10l/100km is really about there for all start & stop condition. ~9l/100km is quite common during my drive...

QUOTE(leongwk15 @ Oct 9 2009, 11:15 PM)
Hei Burgerlim,

I think u ve wrongly mentioned 15~18l/100km ....... is very bad FC. Cars that can achieve FC below 9l/100km for city driving is consider very gd.

My Vios FC for city driving is below 9l/100km and highway is below 7l/100km. But again Vios is a very light car.

Burgerlim, could u pls reconfirm ur FC? Sory I ve to ask u coz' looks like u r the only one who owns a Forte that is responding/answering/helping us out here. Really apreciate your time.

BTW, could u pls check whether ur compressor cut out when is cool enough and cut in when its hot? I still can't believe or understand why the compressor is required to run all time for CBU car with heating system.

Regards

*
Yes, confirmed.... some bad time caught in massive jam in causeway...
due to the meter calculation, running the engine without moving car really kills... i once chatted with some buddy in car for 45mins.. and the fc..shoots up like 13l/100km from 9l.. so hope you see how the reading is based on... pretty accurate.. i trusted the meter up to neck with remaining of 30+km to go! shocking.gif (kind of pushing the limit... just need to know the base line... )

Bro, hope you are referring to auto... think manual can be better?... according to some Forte EX owner.. 15" really gives better FC.. ~7.5km.. here attached some reference (this is SX!!) but really as with any C seg compact.. its not start / stop / jam friendly... for extremist.. whenever stops > 30 secs.. turn off engine! haaaa.... some even removes spare tyre!!! OMG.. laugh.gif

See this, driving behaviour really makes different..
Shell Fuel Challange..

Bro, for this i am not too sure now... something i am trying to get how kia climate control works... should compressor running all the time.. then.. there are few thing i am in doubt..

1. a/c temp setting is affecting my FC, i.e 23deg to 19deg.. makes some different... (it may however runs at different pressure.. i dont know..)
1.1. Manual is saying 23deg is optimum for engine and FC..??? rclxub.gif
2. for home installed a/c.. with heater (in come country... the process (IIRC) is to swap evaporator and condenser.. ?? no?
3. at times, car feels heavier... and some times esp when temp is set higher.. it just dun feel the compressor is working hard... (again still verifying..)

Anyone has any link to "KIA climate control system"?

finally, i had a disappointment just last friday, when the a/c were not cool under s/hot day...and it wasn't cold...(but didnt set to maximum... i donno. will have to check with AD...
will update and oh..ya.. brands of the compressor too... doh.gif

QUOTE(bobbychin @ Oct 9 2009, 11:33 PM)
for my part, i really thinks that the compressor did not cut out. the reasons are as below ;

1) i didn not hear the "TIK" sound of the bimetallic sensor
2) i didn not feel changes in the air temp from time to time
3) the temp of the engine seems to be stable no matter i go up or down hill
4) the temp changes very fast, from very cold to very hot when i turn the control knob

in my oppinion this air cond system gives bad FC, but its comfortable to drive in as the temp is stable.
*
Hi, bobby

just to get your version right..? is spectra 5 looks as follows?'
user posted image

For the AC i am still sourcing around for how kia climate works. but just to check... is yours looks as follows?

i am really not too sure cos forte FC is really v.good considering of its size..

i was told its much better then previous cerato... V2... (as above.. not too sure if == spektra 5..)

oh.. leong..

Nope, non moving car uses 100% fuel with no mileage!.. so.. it could be 100l/1km! rite? FC= fuel amount to distant traveled.. so hope this clarify your doubt.

Again depending on design / system.. please know that its the system..i.e if climate control needs compressor to run all the time..therefore allowing the consistent air temp control..then its beyond.. brands, MIJ / MIK will deliver the same. That is why i am looking for the KIA climate system that they are using..

its really not about the brands. its the design.. just take for example. bobby spektraV5? while sharing the same base engine, it produces totally different FC, many more thing comes to play.. i.e, gear box, injection system. final ratio, ecu programming and so on... , just for your info too.. the engine comes with CVVT (aka Vtec? in honda) so maybe both car produces different torque curve..

hyundai elantra (avante here) for example continue to improves with minor adjustment and claimed FC increased from 12.1km/l to 14.1km/l now..

that explains why forte Jam/city (start stop) FC is so terrible considering the car must work on large wheel and 1.25ton body and needs some very low ratio to pull thru... instant FC meter shows..its uses >20l/100km.. so if you stick with 1st gear all the time.. then expect that kind of FC...

nothing beats your own test drive... i think its too early to tell how good / bad msia version will be, but think you should draw your conclusion from there.. cheers!

Then, yes new forte FC is better.... think you may want do some aftermarket tuning to improve FC. heard proven at least 10~% wor.. so.

just got sms from dealer

it will launch 2 model

Kia forte 1.6 shiftronic (full spec with push start button for rm82K) and lower spec for rm75K

hmmm

i doubt this will be successful. the price is kinda expensive to me. better get honda city.

sad.gif
*
Well... all forte Auto should comes with sportstronic (aka +/- thing)... but with 4 gears i doubt its really tat useful...(to me really nothing to play about.. unless... really auto respond comes too slow.)

for 82k with push button.. (w/ immobilizer) think is super worth.. (with that i would not expect them to short cut on other things ya?)

as to compare with city... personally tested both cars.. over here (SG) city is way overpriced! if price is within.. its anyone call (resale definitely Honda is way better but i must say its consumer's perceptions.) Forte is a good car as city in every bit.. (again its personal view again...)

Looking forward to updates soon...

however i read it from auto magazine that Chevy Cruze is going to launch soon too...
price might be slightly higher.. is a good car tho..

oh... Cruze! if FC is a concern Stay away.... doh.gif its >1300kg dry body...
overall is much a bigger cars.. handling as good, sound insulation is better then forte.. but more expansive too...

It gonna be NAZA Force ? Naza badge wei ..... how come the tag is around 82 k ?!

Not too sure too.. but accordingly, Forte is classified as compact car as Civic, Mazda 3 etc etc...
Actually there is really no definite definition to Sec-C (if any?) car... its generally classified as compact?
