So can you please help me out by letting me know

What are all the legal necessities of running a restaurant. What are the permits/licesnes and fees which I have to apply for/pay before I can start my business

As far as I know

I have to register my company with the SSM (suruhanjaya syarikat malaysia)

Then i have to apply for a license from the local municipal council

Halal certification (if necessary)

what else is therE? please enlighten. I will appreciate all the help given, thanks a lot in advance.

Check the traffic of the mall vs the shop.
Build a Profit and Loss forecast by month for 2 years. Change your assumptions and see how this will impact your P&L. Then you will have a better idea what is required to sustain your business under different scenarios.

omg??

i think i already mentioned a million times

i just want to know, the legal and governmental formalities that i need to fulfil before I can run a business. No need to worry about my capital, no need to worry about my premises, no need to worry about my human resources, no need to worry about my costing, no need to worry about my plates and cups and forks and spoons and cups and coffee machines and ovens and microwave ovens and sinks and lights and fans and airconds

JUST THE LEGAL AND GOVERNMENTAL FORMALITIES

like

LICENSING
PERMITS
FEES

omg? i dont think i can be any clearer. thank you for all the help

So apart from registering with the SSM or the suruhanjaya syarikat malaysia and getting an operating license from the respective local municipal council, I also need to register with the fire department in view of fire exits/extinguishers/smoke detectors etc. Okay. What else??

With that attitude of yours to demand help, why don't you ask in a more appropriate forum?

Do you know how frustrating it is to type out questions so directly yet get such indirect answers?

Thank you. This is what I am talking about.

Hey fren,

Are you really into opening a biz? You sound to me you are more of doing an assignment and just need input. Who on earth would do a biz without considering the capital? If you are doing a project, just let us know, we can give you direct input.
*
Have you ever considered the fact that I might ALREADY have considered my capital and now need to determine the regulations I need to fulfil before I can run my business??

TS seems to wan us to reply in more detail so he can copy and paste. Dont have to waste effort. LOL

Really, just register everything and ask bomba to check and approve it.  Restaurant or kedai kopi, both have diff criteria to meet. You need to check with them.
*
I'm sorry I dont believe in shit ass quality work, I dont do copy paste, you might be the kind that copy pastes hence you see the need to associate copy pasting with me but yeah you dont know me so don't come up with baseless accusations saying people copy and paste thank you very much.

What is more frustrating is your rude attitude and your lazy mindset to ask for help in your assignments/research without any bit of effort to seek out yourself or go interview F&B owners but rather be spoon fed through this forum.

Majority of us here are not in F&B industry, so please direct your questions to the appropriate group of people instead of us here for spoon feeding.
*
if you dont know how to answer, then you shouldnt answer

i have gotten some terrific answers from the other people here and i am grateful for that

I am however, not grateful for the unnecessary comments which dont benefit me at all

How would you know that I am lazy? do you know me personally? if your answer is no, then no you dont know me and you shouldnt come up with your own conclusions and thoughts about who i am because you basically dont know me.

Thank you very much.

And btw, please define APPROPRIATE group of people. Is everyone in lowyat.net selling computers or selling cars or selling chocolate cake or selling dogs or selling cups or selling air fresheners or selling pencils? This is a forum for all sorts of people, including people in the FNB industry so how exactly am I supposed to direct my questions to the appropriate people?

My safest bet is to hope people who know the answers to my questions to help me out

And people who dont to not answer. Thats all. Simple as that.

If you can't tolerate answers given, then this isn't the right place for you.
Do your homework else where.

If you're not lazy, you would have found your answer by conducting interviews with those who're really in F&B industry. All it takes is a trip down and ask. Simple isn't it? But no, you wish to do your homework here, demands answers, and scolds everyone whose answer wasn't what you want.

Is this how you do your research?
He's not even doing a business. In his first post, he's doing a STUDY only. aka assignment.
I'd say let this prick learn things the hard way. He deserves to be screwed up.
*
wth is your problem man..

you're like some lifeless person who comes here just to kacau kacau

if you cant give proper answers in the first place, if you're not an FNB expert as you claim. then just go elsewhere and disturb other ppl la?

and HELLO, once again, do i have to ask you, do you know me personally? do you know the nature of my work? are you a school mate of mine? Let me help you answer. NO, NO and NO.

So what makes you think I've not conducted interviews? Wat makes you think I've not done my homework?

I'm not scolding, I'm asking you to BUZZ off if you dont know the answers but instead wish to type nonsense like what you're doing. Which is good for me because you're bumping the thread so thank you for your bandwith and whatever not.

And its okay, whatever you say or do will not screw me up, you think you're that influential? You think you're god? Lol.

QUOTE(am_eniey @ May 13 2009, 02:25 PM)
yo bro, i can see that you have a very low limit of tolerance and a very high level of temper. The combination of these two might bring whatever business down, believe me. In real business you need probably 100 times higher limit of tolerance and 100 times lower level of temper. Your attitude has a big role in your business, so stay cool. No need to be jumpy. I'm not a pro in business but all you have to do is to ignore all negative replies towards you and only take positive replies into account. There are many other obstacles you might face when your business is running which might raise 1000 times the temper compared to what you are facing in this forum.
*
Trust me, I only have a very low limit of tolerance and a high level of temper towards people who, when asked a question, answer something else, come up with their own questions, come up with their own perceptions and thoughts, come up with their own conclusions like as though its some god given right of theirs to voice their opinions everywhere and anywhere. You know whats a smart alec? Yeah, I detest people like that who come and spam in people's thread. So thank you for your advice, but I'm only reacting this way because some person insists on being lifeless and keeps disturbing and annoying me with all her smart alec answers like as though she's some super duper smart ass professor when in fact her answers dont contribute at all.

Added on May 13, 2009, 4:33 pmI think I'm done. I've gotten the answers I need. Thanks to everyone who have contributed except for that one useless person who acts so smart.

Seriously

you need a life smile.gif

sad ass b!tch
