IMO rather than formating why not taking off the HDD instead... hmm.gif

Yeah... I meant that. tongue.gif Thanks for pointing that out...
Take out the HDD and put it back in (HAVE to reformat)

Blackout... hmmm... my place got blackout once or twice. Thank God didn't get the 3D sweat.gif (and I hope tak akan kena)
I'm not sure bout this but some shops tend to change the lens of the PS3 to a cheap one, that's why some can sell it real cheap (got source from a supplier).

About burned DVDs/CDs, I don't recommend playing it using your PS3. Why? Because of the disc quality. And from my experience, Sony is notorious in laser drive problem sweat.gif

*edited*
2.43 is up, so, time for you guys to try it out and see if it unlocks your drive. Good luck!

from Djinn..

I think the cause of my disc detection failure is bcoz of switching on/off too often. Coz at that time i was fixing my speakers and av receivers..so..after fixing..i was testing my ps3...sound did not load..then off ps3..check cable..refix everything..and on ps3 again...these steps were done couple of time..then finally everything was working fine..was playing a bluray movie...suddenly it hang..i removed the disc..off the ps3 and on it again..from here onwards..it cannot detect the disc
*
I think you should have leave the BD inside...
Well, to everyone else, if your PS3 hang, just leave it, don't switch off the main power, use the press-the-power-button-for-10-seconds method.

laugh.gif This is the first time I heard of PS3 dual-lens. Is this true? If it is, I have the dual-lens too. So, does this means I can pop in sparrowed DVD without fear for the lens dying? (You know I'm joking rite) tongue.gif

what's with some sellers who take out Ori lens then replace with non-Ori one?Is this one of their marketing strategies?
*
Yeah, I heard this too. First hand from a supplier (not sure if he's BS-ing me)
They say some shops take out the original lens and put in a cheaper lens and that's why they can sell the PS3 at a very low price sweat.gif

Just received call from the local game shop. My YLOD PS3 is fixed. They told me the motherboard is over heated.  sweat.gif
Hopefully this fix is the last one needed for my PS3... sweat.gif

Where did you sent it for repair? And what about the cost? Tq.

Just wondering, guys who kena YLOD, do you have enough space for the PS3 exhaust fan?
There shouldn't be any obstruction (like wall, cabinets, etc.) for at least 6 inches.
Please share how and where you place the console coz it might help others who place their PS3 so close to any obstruction. thumbup.gif

Vote your selection in the above poll for future reference.
*
ninja, i would like to suggest that the votes be model and defect type.

e.g

1. PS3 60GB (J) - YLOD
2. PS3 60GB (J) - Lense
3. PS3 60GB (J) - No problem so far
4. PS3 40GB (SG) - Lense
5. PS3 80GB (MY) - YLOD

Something like this so we can actually pinpoint which model has the most rate of tendency to fail. And people who have that particular model can take precautions. icon_rolleyes.gif
