QUOTE(enemyofgod @ Oct 1 2009, 12:38 AM) Have a look at those threads and sites out there..and come back to me if anyone has not complained bout the firmware..i'll keep myself away of the thread.. YLOD is a GENERAL error. It may be cause by 1)hardware 2)software As simple as that. People has been complaining about firmwares since forever. where were you that time? Maybe because Liverpool lost last nite, thats why.. |

QUOTE(Brian O'Connor @ Oct 12 2009, 01:43 PM) Benard penah ajar aku.Mmg jadik kat 40g sgpore aku tapi dia bgtau yang trick ni hanya menjadik kat certain model PS3 shj terutamanya model 40g singapore.Bila aku cuba kat 80g MY set aku yg satu lagi tu xmenjadik la plak.So betol la kot apa yang dia kata tu. Kalau kau nak bunuh PS3 kau, buat la gitu. itu bukan fan test, itu sebenarnya force eject method. tgk dlm youtube kalau tak caya. mmg jahanam la kalo selalu buat.So tgk ko punya model mana. Ni adalah step2 dia. 1) Pastikan ko dah tutup switch power ps3 ko(yang kat butang blakang ps3 tu) 2) Tekan butang eject, hold butang eject tu 3)Masa ko hold butang eject tu, switch on balik power ps3 ko.Masa tu jangan lepaskan butang eject tu 4)Masa tu ps3 ko akan berada dalam hyperdrive yang kuat tapi dun worry, yang tu utk kuaqkan habuk je.Dalam 20 saat dia akan stop dan bunyi blinking akan kedengaran. 5)Switch off power kat blakang ps3 ko dan switch on balik power tu pasal ko takleh start ps3 ko kalau blinking tu masih ader. 6)Tamat imbas kembali(cam komik hk lak haha) |

QUOTE(SeanWong @ Oct 15 2009, 01:06 PM) no offense bro. Apologize if my posts did sound like a bit aggressive. so bro, your ps3 ok already?Perhaps those who have encountered YLOD can share my view on the video. Arggg that is the feeling when your console automatic shut down while you playing games, start blinking with red light, and your 1st thought is WTH happening and trying to press the power button, where it goes back to standby mode (red still), then you press again it turn green and you thought you can play again. Then within a sec the console flash with yellow light, then red light, then blinking red light again. No matter how many times you try it just repeat the same thing, YOU CAN'T ON THE CONSOLE!! the frustration is really unbearable I have the same thought like you before i encountered YLOD, when i watch those video previously ("this must be fake"; "Sony product is reliable and unlike Microsoft one"; "Maybe those ppl are overplay the games too much thus overheat la" and etc.), but now i know it is genuine case... Just to share with you bro |

QUOTE(SeanWong @ Oct 15 2009, 01:31 PM) The thing is...Nelson as well as Tim also claimed that the YLOD is due to recent fw update that corrupt my CPU and GPU thus giving wrong instruction to cut-off the cooling fans thus lead to overheat and YLOD... this is my personal take on this whole fiaso, YLOD, can happen to anyone. Just like AIDS.But i saw your guys post here said that it is a general hardware failure, nothing related to fw update... Really i dont know what's the real cause of my console that just bought 1 1/2 years....more suffering is...i already bypass the warranty period Looks like i gonna save money to buy MY Slim, just like what you said... its a general hardware error, where the system flashes a generic error and not indicating the real cause of the error. So far, the most popular reason is the mobo needs to be reheated so the solders can be rejointed etc. Harddissk boot failure too, is one of the reason. And lets not rule out the error cause by KO'ed power supply. Very2 general. I have read in various forums, those people who sent their machines to Sony*read, Sony, the makers of Playstation brand* will 80% received a refurbished unit. Some of them do receive the same unit. That shows that, even Sony, rules out the possibility to repair that 80% of the machines. And these people know the machine inside out. Send refurbished machines to customers, extend the warranty and viola, happy customers. The only catch here is some of those people send machines with BC feature, and as we all know, Sony does not produce machines with BC feature now. I leave that to their business strategy team to brainstorm. In short, even Sony does not repair YLOD 100%. I believe, they only repair those they can repair (aside from overheating prob) |

QUOTE(SeanWong @ Oct 15 2009, 01:59 PM) Ya that is what i read from other forum too. exactly, my ps2 is still serivng me well, after 7 years. bought her in 2002. I only changed the lens. other than that, the thing runs as it was running 7 years ago.Mostly they get refurbished unit when they send back to Sony. Now watching the video on Slim can also experience the same thing (YLOD), despite with its more cooling mechanism and power saving. I have lost my confident on sony product already. Previously i thought sony product is more reliable coz my ps1 and ps2 still playable without any flaw as at todate but now maybe i need to change my mind... the thing is, Sony was aiming to lower down production cost. Then , this initiative from them also carries issues like cheap parts, cheap labor, etc. Its one heck of a machine, but, what good is a Ferrari when driven with Proton brakes? |
