What type of file format do you all set for tour camera? RAW or JPEG?

JPEG all the way. I hate the hassle of processing RAW pics.

'it's never about the thing'
This is very subjective and optional. For me, gears are necessary to take nice pictures.
*
Yes, feel the same as some photo do really require that particular gear to spice things up. smile.gif

if ask which lens i really wan, i wan prime lens >.<
but 2 things make me hesitate:
1)if i go on travel, prime lens would b practically not usefull for me
2)u think will it be a waste for a beginner like to get a prime lens?
*
If u buy and keep the prime then it's waste.

It wont go waste if u utilize it and capture photo with it.

How about think this way, do u think that it will be a waste for a beginner to get the top-of-the-line sb-900 speedlight? smile.gif

No offence ya, juz my honest opinion.

guys.. i wanna ask.. for portraits indoors.. we tilt the flash upwards right? but because it's facing vertically and not horizontally like sony f58 flash could, the flash power is reduced somehow.. hard to compensate for me..how to fix this/do it the right way..
*
You can always tilt the flash head pointing upwards right? unsure.gif

Any comment on both the Tamron 28-75 F2.8 and Tamron 17-50 F2.8?

Seems hard to find review for the 28-75 and both of it's price is almost same, wan to make a move to replace my kit lens 18-55. smile.gif

You wont go wrong with any Tamron f/2.8 lenses. It just depends on the reach you need from the lens. If you find yourself needing more zoom than the 18-55 kit lens, then go for the 28-75mm lens. Otherwise, go for the more common and widely used 17-50mm f/2.8 lens.

Which do you think is a better lens to cover a wedding event? Or maybe a SP AF 90mm F2.8? smile.gif

For wedding I foresee more wide shots. So having 17mm would be a benefit. You can also opt for prime lens if you don't mind fixed focal.
*
Like say maybe the AF-S 35mm F1.8? smile.gif

I wouldn't stick to just one lens for a wedding. This lens would be a good addition. But I think you'd be using the wideangle most of the time.

QUOTE(project-o @ Jul 6 2009, 11:12 AM)
Will need a lot of "leg zoom" if you were to use 35mm alone.
*
I see, maybe can recommend some lens budget around 1k+?

How much would a Nikon 55-200mm AF-S DX VR cost? I went to this shop and it's around RM1200. Is that right?
*
That's pretty high price, usually it's at RM900+-
