i m totally new in photo line, i just like to snap picture.
currently using canon ixus 850IS. it serve me well, but i wan better shot.
so my frd recommend me to get D60. good enough for entry level.
so i doing some homework now and learn more about DSLR here.

If i prefer portrait, which should i choose?
most like to snap my gf picture and view.

budget? less than 2k then get d60... if 2.8k..get d5000....if 4k..get d90...if 5k...get d300... For portrait..get 35mm f1.8 or 50mm f1.8/1.4....

wah ur gf is the 1 in ur avatar? drool.gif

d60 is fine... If u r planning to use old lens, then the internal motor is an issue. If you are nt buying old lens anytime soon..d60 + kit lens is quite good to start with. You can check out Canon 1000d too..

just tried a few functions.. love the speed of it for the most part..

picture output i would easily say d90 beats 40D at high iso. the good thing about 40D though if im not mistaken is that 40d has a native iso of 100 to 1600 or something..and d90 starts from iso200

sports/wildlife-40D
weddings events etc-d90

speed as in fps? yea..6.4 fps.

get d90 lo..so far have u faced any situations that u need to shoot under rain? if yes...then 40d + speedlight to get rid of using high ISO.

QUOTE(alpha_company @ Jun 30 2009, 01:57 AM)
got one time need to shoot in rainy conditions..but as with any dslr, anybody will try to avoid that kind of situation right..

looked at canon lenses...most of nikon's lenses start at 18mm like 18-55, 18-105, 18-135, 18-70 whereas canon mostly starts at 24 or 28mm..not wide enough for me.. even the same mfd lenses, the canon starts at 24/28mm...so it wont be as wide as a 18mm, so lens wise canon's are not so versatile..

though 10mp 40D will have a wider view than 12mp d90 at the same focal length because of the 40d's lower resolution..
*
if u cant avoid...u terpaksa have to shoot also..if not ur client will be disappointed. But make sure u have weather sealed lens too..

the mp doesnt affect ur focal length..juz the crop factor of ur sensor.tht 0.1 diff not a lot la..haha..
