I felt cheated by Tomica. This particular TL limited subaru shrunk. It's gotten noticeably smaller than the previous limited's. ?? Hmm.. but it's priced cheaper at RM16.90..

That GTR 2 car set not nice la. The doors do not open like usual. In fact almost all new release does not have opening doors anymore. So dissapointed.

The colors & tampo also not attractive. The other skyline in single box silver color one is not nice. The door cannot open. The last TL Sil80 also not nice as the scale is off and the cast is like china copy one. The only last legit TL i see now is the datsun SSS. But at 24 bucks..... sigh........  Not only that my favourite Maisto stuff also cost damn a lot already. And does not seem worth it anymore. Lucky i have scaled down my collection habits a lot. do a lot of calculation, the price of buying, resale and value holding does not justify.

Well if they maintain that they would have these feature as what we would expect for paying premium price, i would agree. But nowdays...... things just go so wrong. Now its in HW premium category, metal base with rubber wheels. The only 1 difference now is the base of TL is painted, while Hw is not painted. I do like TL collector friendly packaging. This one trumps all. But c'mon! Paying few bucks more for no special functions. HW does not have opening doors. But they have opening bonnet and hatch in some models. Some wired ones have movable parts. It is also the same with MBX. But MBX only have movable parts in their transport models, like vans, trucks and such. With Maisto u pay for parts licensing. The wheels are all reflected as real life items we could buy. Some of their premium range have opening bonnets as well. With Siku, they make only europe only car models. And u pay more for size. So pay RM25 for TL or pay RM20 for HW? So 5 more bucks cannot make opening door? TL range KPGC models is the one that is so apparent it got this change. If the cast already had opening doors, why not make it same with the new 2 models? I also noticed the new silver KPGC is slightly bigger in size. Or maybe the lighter shade made it bigger? I dunno la. I think Tomica is restructuring to save money. They could have made all their normal lines non opening doors and such. And only TL have opening doors. But in Japan they have even cheaper normal tomica blister pack lines and not like the box lines.

U know because of this reduced function, that makes MBX action 1:64 big scale RM30 ones value for money. U get moving things even if it is plastic.

When talking about cost. Yes it cost more to make moving door or hatch or mechanical. It is more because of assembling manpower. Its ok to pay for us to 5-7-10 bucks more. That is really fine. If they retain their standard production techniques and requirements. But now, u take away those moving parts, u still pay more. So this is right? So left with painted metal base & bigger scale. Cannot accept la like that. Actually i'm so so so pissed off with the Sil80. Its so horrible that i cannot match it to my green S13!! It seems like they either sub contract their cars to some other factory in China to make it.  It just does not feel like tomica limited anymore. Yes i realize about the exchange rate. But when the lines are so standardized, then suddenly a horrific crap like the Sil80 was introduced....   Why is the Initial D Sil80 look more better than TL one?

I have managed to find a used Tomica 1979 bulldozer that is so well made, the plastics does not break even after i pry it open to install donated rubber tracks. The paint after a session in toothpaste and water made it look like it was made yesterday. Even the hydraulic shafts are tight and slide nicely. Now that is quality!

I do like Tomica, for i always believed they were the only company to cram every conceivable realistic tech into their toys. Most of their cars have suspension. Almost every regular tomica vehicle have opening or moving parts. So its only fair every TL should have some moving parts. Also found out from another japan die cast forum that says sometimes sedan cars cannot make opening doors because the shut lines too thin to align to second rear door. Ahh.... at least that answers the tech problem faced. So this current 4 door skyline no open door because designed with opening door not nice and hard to open small door. So this answer justify the ok to buy RM49.90 2 car set.
