According to this i will expect Maxis will be offer free upgraded to All iPhone 3G move to 3.0 because there will be no more firmware 2.2.1 to run for App Store.

Thy just wanna make sure the APP Store developers make sure maximum compatability of their apps on OS 3.0 once its out.
