Just to share a work in progress. I try to do some cable management after getting back my gigabyte PSU.

First i try to make the interior black, but i don wanna spray paint it. So i decided to just stick some black "carpet" ( I don know what it is called, it is used to wrap the exterior of speaker box).
I also sleeve the front panel LED n on off switch cables with black tubing.

get rid of the carpets....theyre a good breeding place for dust... and the fearsome static.

get insuflex instead from garage sales or those sound deadening foam like Akasa Paxmate (which is thin and barely works for sound deadening) or the thicker, more effective ones u can get at car audio shops (same material like paxmate, just thicker)

they dont attract dust and dust dont stick to them and u get sound deadening/proofing at the same time

it's kind of sponge, iinm quite the same wif the stuff wrapping mobos and stuffs.

did u sandwiched the sponge against the mobo? don't do tat as it'll trap the heat at the back, cut it and jz put it around the mobo. smile.gif

sponge absorbs noise and dust too but is the noise reduction noticeable? hmm.gif

no, i was not planning on the noise reduction. To get noise reduction, you need sound absorbing material with is troublesome to mount n expensive.

It is not the same as the stuff wrapping the mobo, it is not sponge like, more to the carpet like, got it from the auto accessory shop. cheap.

I did not sandwich against the mobo, just lay it around it to get the black feel.

the sound dampening part is just an extra perk of the insuflex/foam thing

carpet will definitely attract dust and static...thats why i told u to remove them to safeguard ur hardware.

and insuflex/sound deadening foam isnt that expensive... were not talking dynamat kinda sound deadening man...those are expensive yes

The problem with insuflex is it is not black in color. The carpet thing will produce static if you rub it, but if it is sticking to the aluminium panel, the Alu serves as grounding n you will not get static discharge that will damage your components. the casing itself connected to the power cord will provide ample grounding. So it will not be a problem.

As for dust, i agree that it will attach dust, but as there are air intake filters, i will monitor it after 1-2 months, if it is a trouble, then i willl just remove the carpet.....

Thx 4 the input.
