Hello guys,

I am new to this forum. I have been playing guitar for the last 6 years. I am from Pakistan and will be visiting Kuala Lumpur next month. I am coming for 2 weeks vacation in June.

I plan to buy two guitars. One for myself and another for my brother. I am interested in following two guitars:

Gibson Les Paul Studio / ( if this not available than: Epiphone Slash Les Paul Gold Top/Standard Plus top)

and for my brother i am going to buy

Fender American Standard stratocaster.

Now problem is that I have seen some malaysian guitar sites and I can see that Fender is easily available in many places. But I cannot find gibson or epiphone. Can anyone tell me where can I find this gibson model (or epiphone model)

Also which shop is better and has best price for fender and gibson/epiphone. Because I have seen varying prices of Fender.

Please help me find these guitars because I might have to place order before I come if guitar is not available in Kuala Lumpur.

I can spend max RM5000 on each guitar ( I have RM10,000 for both )

thanks

Yup. Maybe you can contact Dead Eye and he can get you the Epis you need and meet you to deal.

For Fenders, your best bet is still at Bentley in Mutiara Damansara. You can do a quick google search and find it.

Good luck to ya mate.

Need to buy guitar for RM5000? Man, can we trade places some time? Hehehe tongue.gif

But anyways, there's a whole bunch of ppl in here who can fix u up with gear. Some can even deliver it to you straight to Pakistan, so you won't have to bother with baggage and customs.

WohFatt is near petaling street, opposite to metrojaya (not facing the main road, it's at other side). the row of the shops at one end is mcdonald, and WohFatt is at the other end.

seriously there's no shops and dealers carrying any Les Pauls except WohFatt? blink.gif

are you only coming to Malaysia? not going to Singapore?
you wont find a brand new gibson LP studio for RM5k here.
i dunno about fender prices, but i think RM5k may not get u a brand new US strat here either.

and do u need brand new? cos u can definitely find US strats used here for around RM3-4k.
while u can also find used gibson LP BFG for around RM3k, been awhile since i seen a used LP studio being sold here tho.

Fender strat can be found in Bentley. They have a shop in Bukit Bintang and another in Mutiara Damansara.

for Gibson, try Woh Fatt but i'm not sure about the models. I believe they're harder to find than Epiphone.

Do you think Singapore is a better option? Are the prices better over there? Which shops are better there that might have Gibson??

Actually I will have to get a visa for singapore from pakistan first. I am willing to do that if it is worth it?? how much will return trip from KL to singapore cost me if I go by bus? I heard it takes 5 hours one way??

Will singapore/malaysia customs people give me trouble? also is the journey by bus safe? considering the fact that I will be carrying two guitars with hard shell cases worth RM10,000+ ...

I was excited that I would get a Gibson les paul or Epiphone slash les paul from kuala lumpur. these guitars are not available in Pakistan sad.gif

Added on May 8, 2009, 4:52 amthanks everyone for the help guys.... I checkout Woh Fatt, but they dont have a website where I can see the guitars. Its very difficult checking all this from Pakistan. I think I will have to come to Kuala Lumpur and only than I can find out.

DeadEye has epiphones but I was only interested in the Slash Gold top model les paul...but that is finished now sad.gif

Okay can anyone suggest any other guitar...my requirements are:

price not more than RM5000 (max)
22 frets
fixed bridge
Seymour duncan or Dimarzio pickups

Thanks smile.gif

i think for your best bet at epiphones or gibsons you should try singapore as i dont think gibson supplies guitars to malaysia anymore (correct me if im wrong).

If you go to Singapore, Swee Lee has both Gibson AND Fenders for a much more reasonable price compared to KL actually.

going to singapore and coming back will also cost me money....and getting visa for singapore also costs alot. Swee Lee has listed very expensive prices on their website...so i dont think they are reasonable
