"Sour Grapes" is the standard Asian mentality, apparently, and it's derived from the envy that's deeply ingrained into the kiasu attitude.

When presented with a nice ride, 90% of the time, the first comment would be "wah, so rich ah..." or something like that, and the 10% would be something positive.

I'd just say: hey if you earned it, enjoy it. If you haven't, then attain it.
