I'm still a highschool student, form 5, just opened up my mind to what i'm gonna do in the future.
I'm just curious about this ADT Programme. Is it only in private U or also provided in government U?
The total number of students is limited to join this programme? Or is this an open programme for anyone interested?

I'm thinking of taking the Graphic Design course. So, I've done some research about the ADTP, I stumbled upon INTi college. They told me I have to do foundation for 1 year in one of their colleges and proceed to any US or UK university for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year.
If anyone joined this programme, please do reply here. I need some info about this ADTP.

If I am not mistaken, ADTP is the term used by Sunway. Inti uses AUP.
They are generally the American Transfer Program where you do sort of a twinning with American universities.

Well, I guess AUP is provided mostly in private colleges. I do know UiTM has the ADP program, but I am not sure if it's exclusive for JPA, MARA, PETRONAS scholars.

NO limit for this kind of programme la as long as you have money.

But, as the name goes, AUP is mainly for American universities. Indeed, some UK universities do accept AUP but you need to be very excellent and you can't hope for the best universities there. With AUP, you can get into some excellent universities in America although you are still practically impossible for Harvard, MIT, CalTech. But universities like Purdue, Carnegie-Mellon are possible. Taylor's said Cornell is one of their partner, not sure how true it is.

Hi TS, I'm an AUP/ADTP student currently at Inti Penang, and going to transfer to US by the end of this year.

You may go this thread to get more information about this course, they are all AUPians and at US right now.

Studying Oversea

Actually it's the same between AUP and ADTP, American University Program / American Degree Transfer Program. As what I know, Inti, Sunway, Taylor offer this program.

After your SPM, you just need 5 credits to enroll for this program, this is a 2+2 program, 2years at Malaysia, and 2years at US. 2years at Malaysia is kinda foundation, we study something like form6 syllabus but of course easier than form6 smile.gif smile.gif But don't think it's easy, at least it's not that hard, still alright for me nod.gif

Hi biggrin.gif

Thanks for the link to the thread! Will be giving it a read some time now.
So after SPM, 5 credits should be between A and C am I right? At least 5 credits? Good to hear that *phew*.

I see.. 2+2 programme. But in the INTi page, they wrote there that we can also take 1 year in INTi and proceed the 2nd 3rd and 4th year in US? I'm wondering if there's people doing this 1 year foundation.. hmm maybe they wrote the wrong info then?

What if we have taken Form 6 / matrics? Still must take the 2 years foundation? Well, you must be excited to go to US! smile.gif Gogo jiayou

lol. no tips to give already T_T you know what, i always fail my sejarah in school exams, miracle happens when SPM got 1A lol. Same thing happens to add maths .. Just revise & do lots of exercise.. get tips from your school or tuition teacher rclxms.gif

Btw, you wanna take the american degree program ? Its much easier compared to UK-degree because their education system different. American degree gives separate exams while UK degree all compilation. If fail 1 just take back that paper, no need resit for the whole thing again.

I'm currently an AUP student.
You can choose whatever combo you want 1+3, 1.5+2.5, 2+2 or even after one semester you can transfer already but you might need to take your SATs

Well I can vouch for Cornell, one of my friends transferred there, Inti student (very high CGPA), you can basically go to any university that is willing to take your credits.

If you have taken Form 6/ A Levels/ other pre-U they will exempt some credits for example you've taken maths for STPM, you don't need to do Calculus 1 & 2.

Oh I see! So you can choose any combo eh.. In order to take a SAT must complete 1 semester am I correct?
I see.. no more calculus if STPM was done. Thanks bro for the details. =)

Yeah you can choose any combo.
No you can take SATs anytime, even now. I've a friend who's in form 5 last year, he took SAT I with me before SPM, he planned to go to US without waiting for his SPM results ...
(This guy he didn't transfer, straight away go)

The thing is, if you do only 1 semester (or less than 30 credits worth of courses if I remember correctly) in AUP and you want to transfer, you have to submit your SAT results as well, its a rule of theirs, I'm not sure whether it applies to all the unis in US but most have this ruling for transfer students.

If you take STPM science stream, your science subjects will also be exempted (example: Bio I, II, Physics I, II etc etc)
It depends on what subjects you have done, credits will be exempted accordingly.
No problem, glad to help.

If I do it now, I might just make a fool out of myself ahaha.

Thanks bro for the info!! =)

I rarely see anyone interested with design doing ADTP.
Most of the majors are like engineering, aviation, business, marketing, communication and psychology.
Maybe you should inquire LKW or TOA for design.

For ADTP it's better if you do more course work here because the fees is so much cheaper compared to the cost after you transfer.

for me,american degree transfer program is not very good
reason:
1.we have to study all the basic thing no matter you wan major sc subject or art subject (for eg,you wan major in engineering, but you have to study some basic subject like accounting and eco even it is not useful in your career)

2.you have to study those irrelevant subject like music, theater, philosophy, sociology, anthropology and so on

3.after you done the credit hour, you might not transfer all the credit hour to the university you aim (for eg,you done 60 credit hour in m'sia, maybe some university in US only accept ur 55 credit hour,so you wasted 5 credit hour) some college in m'sia will tell u which school(mostly are partner) accept what sub,so it's depends on the college u choose in m'sia for ADP

4.for art student,u will suffer from studying sc subject as i mention in reason 1
