hi all,

I got an Sx amp (came with the LP starter pack). Initially I was only playing on distortion so it sounds ok. But now as I started to learn blues and using the clean tone more, I'm a bit frustrated. When the volume is turned up, not even half way full, the tone is distorted. Sound like "speaker pecah". All this while even when using distortion I never turn up the volume that high.

My setup : guitar>goom g1x>amp/headphone or guitar>amp

if I plug the headphone direct to the effect, the clean tone is so nice, but clean tone either direct form the amp or from the effect through the amp is distorted.

Is this normal, broken or just characteristic of a cheap amp?
because if it is the characteristics, maybe I would get a new amp. any suggestion for around ±RM300??

If you top up Rm100, you can get a Vox ad30vt over at garage sales.

Yes, a cheap amplifier will break up very easily, ESPECIALLY if it's a lower wattage one like the ones found in a pack.

Like Dilin says, you're better off saving up for the VOX30VT, which is a much better amp AND has great modeling tones.

Try to adjust the volume knob on your guitar & your amp. If guitar volume very low, but the amp volume is high, the sound produced will be distorted even if your gain level is low. Try to increase the volume on you guitar, then adjust the amp volume. This is what I did when I crank up my gain , & reduce the volume on my guitar so that the distortion sound wont be so loud. ( later neighbour complain >.< ) This what happens on my cheap amp lol. Dont know if yours will be same or not.

thanks for advice.. I want to use the guitar volume knob for tone variation too.. been playing around with them through the headphone.. sounds nice, that's what makes it more frustrating when playing through the amp... anyway I went to a couple os guitar store just now, I think ±RM400 (as suggested) is the amount to spend to get a worthy amp. Line 6 Spider III15 any good?
