bought my Samsung 40" LED TV UA40D5003BR and Samsung BluRay player BD-D5100 at all-in RM2,350 from a small electrical shop in Seksyen 18 Shah Alam last nite. To me, damn cheap.

The TV is a new model but you cant find that in Malaysia's Samsung website. It looks like the model is not meant for our market coz most references in the web are coming from the Philippines, Vietnam, India, Thailand, Indonesia & all that kind of countries. Wonder why.

Haven't tried fully exploring the features. I don't have Beyond nor any Bluray disc to start with, except composite cable. For now, normal astro output looks very inferior than my Sony 29" CRT. Stretched images in 16:9 screen are something i need to acquire from now. DVD 9 doesn't offer better images than my CRT. TV speaker is horrendous - external speakers are so mandatory. And have yet to experience its 120hz Clear Motion Rate. Does it really have that?

But above all and which I like most, it stands elegantly on my living hall's TV bench. At that price and look so premium, it is worth to be seen, if not to be watched. hahaha.

TV alone is RM1,980. I paid via amex, so price includes the merchant charges la
For hdmi, only 1 port. If use beyond and hdmi dvd player, then we need to pull and plug.
but there are hdmi splitters sold out there. Aren't they?

I think it is non-Malaysia model.. bcoz.. Malaysia is 100Hz.. I read US/UK review.. they always said 120Hz,240Hz...

I guess 100Hz here is not referring to power capacity in our national grid. It refers to frame rates whereby the higher the Hz, the more 'real' movement of an object on the screen is. That is one major reason I buy the LCD LED TV because I have been admiring the naturalness of moving images displayed by LCDs in stores.

i noticed that the more expensive LCD or LCD LED on a given particular size tend to have many ports in their rear panel. But more often than not, we are not going to use all of them in one go, are we? Even then, we do not usually switch from, say, beyond to dvd/bluray, too often.

Are we wiling to pay dearly for the convenience of not having to physically switch from one device to another?

My cheap 40" LED & Full HD Samsung has 1 hdmi port only. To interchange beyond and blu-ray, I just need an hdmi switch (say 3 in 1 out switch) (or remote-controlled one) which cost less than RM100. Or I can just rely on composite/component ports for less used device. jimat.
