hi guys, I'm having trouble with this phone currently
the charging port(mini usb) seems to be broken, it was working perfectly all the while just suddenly it stopped working, I can't charge the phone or connect it to a pc for activesync.
even when i try to plug in the socket charger there is nothing at all, the indicator light also doesn't come on
it just seems like the port itself is gone...tried a few different cables all same result
any advice on where i should fix it or how much it would cost?

QUOTE(digilife @ Sep 11 2010, 04:55 PM) usually, its the soldering part of the mini usb to the motherboard loose.... look for a good phone technician to chk for you if your HD is over the warranty period, else send it back to SIS cosmetically there is nothing wrong with that part (as far as I can see) since you say usually it means this is a common issue for this phone? does it involve major repairs? cause i read on forums which say that the whole board might need to be changed for the soldering part of the mini usb if need to repair how much would it cost?and any recommended place to do the repairs? since i don't think it is still under warranty ps: sorry for the barrage of questions

QUOTE(digilife @ Sep 11 2010, 07:44 PM) if its the mobo prob, expect the repair bill to >rm400, if you send it back to SIS ( if its over warranty) btw, care to tell wat cause it to become like this? or rather wat hav you done to this fon abt 1 wk it becomes like this..... so tat we can take precautions tat it wont happen to our fon in future I'm not sure what is the exact cause for it, flashed a new rom(could it be the rom?), used it for a bit then transferred some data etc then when i tried to connect it back then just nothing happened no warning signs nothing, even the power button indicator light doesn't come on already

QUOTE(digilife @ Sep 12 2010, 09:48 AM) meaning its out of battery now? if yes, try to get the battery charged using a "external clip-on charger" which you can charge the battery using the 2 clips of the external charger it can be bought for abt rm10 fr most fon shops, the charging takes abt 2~3 hrs, and it is a slow charge which is a VERY good alternative, i used tat to charge my spare battery and it can last LONGER than a normal charge via the fon too almost out , i don't quite get how the "external clip-on charger" thingy looks like, its a separate charger for the battery only?how about compatibility?

QUOTE(digilife @ Sep 13 2010, 01:19 AM) could it be the ROM's problem? yea thats what i thought, it may have even screwed up the indicator light since it never comes on already... now waiting to get a micro sd adapter so i could flash another rom via storage card fingers crossed

QUOTE(digilife @ Sep 13 2010, 09:24 PM) yes, stock rom better, btw wat rom did u flash tat made your HD like this? atleast we can avoid the "trouble rom" if we wanna try new roms thx I'm using stoneHenge hyper v2.7, there seems to be nothing wrong with the rom as its one of the speediest wm6.5 with manila 2.5 roms around...shame i'd have to abandon it

i've finally been able to put the rom image into the card, but entering the bootloader doesn't seem to be doing anything
it just display the information and 'serial' status instead of prompting for an update (as it should be)
anyone have a detailed guide on using the sd card flashing method?
