or is it any recommend setting for astro via composite input? like sharpness, brightness, contrast etc?

i bought component cable on thursday and try to use it on my dvd recorder, when i watch astro via s-video on dvd recorder, the picture will become black and white, but it is nothing when i watch dvd... why will it happened?

What brand of DVD receorder do you have?

I'm using a Panasonic, and it allows me to select between PAL/NTSC Tv system.

You have to switch your DVD Recorder to PAL system, or else the image will look funny

As for will Astro images look better if it goes through a DVD recorder, the answer is Yes and No, the Panasonic Dvd Recorder has a built in DNR (Digital Noise Reduction) that cleans up Astro signals so it comes out cleaner. But be careful, too much DNR and the picture will lack detail. (Panasonic's DNR is just nice)

Hope this helps

Confirm, the new Astro decoder has Component out.

"Supposedly" is has some kinda DNR (Digital Noise Reduction)/Digital Upscale thingie that will make the image "prettier"

Is the image better, will find out this weekend

Can the current subscriber upgrade their old decoedr to new decoder cannot.

What must a current sunscriber do to get new decoder, unsubscribe Astro, wait for them to disconnect service, then resubscribe Astro again.... sweat.gif doh.gif *Sigh* "Only the GENIUSES in Astro"

Sorry for my One Liner

I explaiined this in the previous page

The New Astro Decoder comes with Component connection and supposedly has DNR (Digital Noise Reduction) and/or Digital Upscale (upscale from Astro source *Sheesh*)

If you are a current Astro subscribe, they DO NOT have an upgrade option

You have to unsubscribe your current Astro subscription after they have disconnected your service and reapply again to get the new Decoder

THERE IS NO OTHER WAY

I'VE ASKED

*Sigh*
