I concur. The astro service that I saw at a hotel gym had such boxes.

The rubbish code...i thought only shown on astro decoders? Infact if you see it clearly, it is the overlay done by astro decoders. If digital PVR's were to be provided, it records digitally...that is just saving the video/audio content ...  not resampling the whole audio/video content and rerecord it (which includes those rubbish code). In short, if you record it using their digital PVR, I have a feeling you won't get those rubbish code stick on it...

i dun think so....coz astromax dun have hdmi port rite?and oso, new spec decoder will change the old decoder if want to subscribe to the HD channel...

Well, better a choice to buy hd than a choice not to buy at all... It's obvious it's a monopoly, but at least we have options to buy hd. If you can't afford it, it's just unfortunate... But on a marketing point of view, isn't hd targeted for middle and high income class? Cuz these people are most likely the people with hdtvs anyways...

Hopefully based on economies of scale, the price will slide down over a period of time...

i prefer upgrade to streamyx 4M and download HD MOVIE/DRAMA
rather than watch astro stupid code

live event is still the killer app for Astro, the other movie and TV content people can get higher quality stuff faster than it when on air in Malaysia.

transmission will be 16:9, but the content depends on the original movie, no? sometimes 1.85:1, 2.39:1

Yup....but the thing i'm wondering is that the original video will be upscaled to 1080i?Because there are a lot of lousy quality movies in HBO like the old movies

it's somewhere in the previous pages in this thread. Add $20 for 5 channels, apparently. Of course you can only see the HD channels that are part of your existing packages... so if the 5 channels are not part of your existing package, you have to subscribe to that package.

or at least I think that's how it's going to work.

Wondering if astro charged over RM200/month for full package with some HD channels, do you think it is worth it?
