hmm..
i think 720p just enough for the trial service...720p will really2 have different pic quality than their current system
maybe after customer feedback, they will upgrade to 1080i.... but for 1080p (full HD).., wah.. it's too far  rolleyes.gif
if i'm not mistaken, TVB HD jade in HK also broadcast in 720p only....

maybe it is prograssive scan of 720p made it better for sport channel like espn?

"Not say to praise Astro too much but it's really SUPERB when watch with 50inches Panasonic Plasma ( not fullHD ). It's in FULL SCREEN at ratio 1.185:1,not like some BDs which still see black bar on top/bottom at diff ratio.
Bro...u watch oledi ar this astro HD???? shakehead.gif
Yup,i'm sure some forumers here oledi watched that too smile.gif I watched it in 1080i,but i suppose u can switch it to 720p,which i oways did when watched BDs,as my LCD is not FullHD.

No update about the code yet smile.gif

720p?
swt, why not 1920x1080
*
sometimes our eye cant differentiate between 1080 and 720. but 720p is good already.. as I'm already enjoyed at 1080i long time ago.

some sample capture form Truevision (1920x1080) and Luxtv HD. (1250x1080)

my friend working in Astro told me:

Launch date: 18/12
Monthly fee: RM20 on top of monthly subscription
Installation of satelite and box: FOC
Channel going HD: astro supersports, national geographic, ESPN, HBO, History
New features:
1. Cinematic Sound (Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound)
HDTV has the capability to deliver high quality audio via Dolby® Digital 5.1 surround sound.
Properly decoded, each audio track can be isolated to individual speakers around your TV
viewing area to recreate the multi-dimensional audio experience you get in the cinema, right
in your living room.

2. What is Astro B.yond?
Astro B.yond is the future of entertainment. It is a brand new offering in television broadcast
which offers the first ever High-Definition broadcast in Malaysia. For a start, five exclusive high
definition channels will be introduced at the time of launch, with more to come in the future.
With Astro B.yond, employees will be able to enjoy true high definition details such as with
superior resolution, sound and clarity. Astro B.yond will have future interactive features like
Personal Video Recording (PVR), new Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) and internet
connectivity.

Let's see!

This is great considering I just bought a new HDTV. Hopefully the new machine is more reliable than my astro max...

I'm still pissed off that they replaced BBCE with some bio channel! WHY DID THEY BLOODY DO THAT? BBCE was one of the best channels available. i guess I'll have to go back to the iPlayer biggrin.gif

hahaha,no offend but u remind me an advertisement ( proton service? ) after the service center done all the job and tell the lady " it's FREE " ,the lady answered : " so expensive ? " tongue.gif

the news is "almost" true but not 100% confirm yet.The RM20 is an extra RM20 on top of ur normal subscription package. Also,u must have a Sport Package now in order to enjoy the ESPN-HD.Same as HBO-HD,u must have movie package now to enjoy the HBO-HD smile.gif

Also, like mentioned, the decorder might be free but u might need to pay normal installation fee ( sure < RM1k,hehe ).

ohh... ic...ic... biggrin.gif
good explaination.... already understand it....
so, if now my monthly subscription was RM84.95 (Movies+family+learning+fun).., i just need to add some RM20 more.. so total subscription fees every months is RM104.95.. isn't it?
is that free decoder only just for limited subscribers ... fo example, just for the first 1000 subscribers...?
sorry for so many questions here... sad.gif
