quote from cnet asia:
LG is back in the limelight with a slew of home A/V products heading for Asia this quarter. Announced today at a media event was the Korean company's complete ecosystem of home entertainment solutions ranging from sleek flat-panel TVs to Web-enabled Blu-ray players and home-theater-in-a-box (HTIB) kits. Most have been tuned by audio guru Mark Levinson to provide heightened sound quality. The new products, according to LG, are designed to deliver emotional appeal and attachment to the brand.
HDTVs At the forefront of aesthetics are the sexy Scarlet 2 LH70 LCD TVs. These sleek 40mm-thick panels inherit the series' original high-fashion theme, characterized by a bright red rear bezel and huge transparent power button that shimmers in white. The LH70 is not just about style, it's one of the rare gems in the market to offer Bluetooth connectivity. This opens up possibilities, including wireless headphone support for late night movie marathons and cable-free multimedia streaming through Bluetooth gadgets such as mobile phones.
For sports and action flick junkies, LG has positioned its LH50-series as a fast-motion HDTV enhanced by TruMotion 200Hz technology. This function doubles the LH70's 100Hz engine to further reduce motion judder and accelerates LCD response time to a blazing-fast 2ms. The LH50 is probably one of the first HDTVs in the region to wear the latest DivX HD badge, too, allowing it to playback 1080p videos via an onboard USB 2.0 port. The other formats supported are MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and H.264 in various file extensions covering MKV Blu-ray rips based on its user manual.

Well, i saw Sony's MotionFlow...got good and bad....good is seems to actually increase frame rates ...bad is introduce blurry images. I can't say my conclusion is definite, but it is based on what i seen in showroom. The increased frame rates from "Open Season"...seems to be HD or at least DVD material..it was pretty good.....another source is some concert video...blurry images at 200Hz makes me kepala pening... Not sure LG's 200Hz will actually do anything...(like 100Hz TV...craploadabull) btw, LG already got 480Hz coming soon: http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2008/...osed_doors.htmlBut LG's feature to play MKV will surely be a winner!!! But i doubt it can play all types of files like a HTPC...sure got problems here and there like a media player. But i've no confidence in LG's goods....my friend's LG LCD TV busted in < 2 years. My LG washing machine also spoilt < 2 years...(repaired for RM160!).. And i used to drive a KIA Sephia which sucks petrol like Dracula sucks blood...and my Samsung air-cond didn't last very long either.... Frankly, i say TAK NAK KOREA GOODS!!!! (My personal opinion...u don't have to agree with me!) KOREA has very nice design...but NO QUALITY!!! This post has been edited by Matrix: May 6 2009, 09:37 AM

QUOTE(dvinez @ May 7 2009, 03:08 AM) nice design but low quality. this is actually a fact. it depends on self preference anyway. I disagree. Korean makes great products these days, but they do have lower range products too. Just look at samsung phones...they are some of the best and most innovative in the market. The fact is that when a korean product have problem, we all say " see..told you korean makes lousy product". But when you buy a japanese product and its goes bad...the we say "oh...i'm just unlucky". I have many friends who bought a LG TV and have been using it for quite sometimes now....so far never heard of them complaining. And I have bought panasonic tv that got problems after 2 years. The most important thing is how good is the after sales service.

every batch sure have some faulty unit, sometimes it really depends on our luck.
many say korea products not good, samsung no good, LG no good, but why they are still around? samsung LCD is best bang for buck, and i dont really like sony, their product are overpriced.

Getting Started

|
Just saw LH70YR 32" at Best Denki for RM 2899. It do have some nice features like 100Hz and 2.4ms response time. But wonder if it is better to get a cheaper 32" Full HD model and pair it with PC to watch mkv.
