seng_kiat: The A300 VG DOES NOT work on the A700. You'll need to get the A700 VG...

Yup! The A700 is 12.24MP CMOS - no other version. The V4 firmware brings the A700 high ISO noise performance up to par with the D300. The VG though is not affected... still need to the the A700 VG for it but it has lots of buttons and dials on it!

Haiyah....! They wanna jump then let them jump lor... If they have valid reasons then good for them lor...
If they don't have valid reason and jump for jumping's sake or jump because their frens all using another system then I wish them good luck lor... For me, photography is about the pictures you take and not about what gears you have. As long as I can get decent pictures with my gears, then that's all that matters. Besides nobody really cares about what gears you use... except for gearheads lar.... then it's about photogearfy ady... |

There will always be people who will jump here and jump there and in the end still know nuts about taking good pics. They enjoy getting new gears and having the latest and the greatest.
So be it and let's make the distinction between 'their' hobby and ours. Ours is taking pictures and learning how to take better pictures. 'Theirs' is acquiring the latest gears and aiming to get the latest and greatest at all cost. They are happy that way so let them have their way lor... it's not a crime mar... hehehehehehehe.... albnok : Remember your 1Ds MkIII example of zero shutter count? Maybe they like it that way.... bysquashy : It is a fact that batteries don't perform that well under cold weather. Last time I was in China with a PnS, the battery died after only 5 or 6 shots and it was darn cold at the time!
christ_0205 : Why are you looking for a 55-200mm when you already have the 18-250mm? Wouldn't that just overlap your 18-250mm? This post has been edited by shootkk: May 8 2009, 10:34 AM |

QUOTE(christ_0205 @ May 8 2009, 10:52 AM) I don't understand... why sell off the 18-250 and get a 18-200?? I am under the impression that the 18-250 is better than the 18-200. The 18-250 is hard to beat for a all-in-one lens. Wide to tele in one compact size. Unless you tell me you wanna get a Zeiss 16-80 or a constant F2.8 plus the 55-200 then I can understand.. kysham : Are you serious on the 'Sony abandoning the screw drive AF' thing??!! WTF??!! That would only make those allegedly new bodies incompatible with the whole line up of existing Sony lenses except for the SSM CZ and G!!??
Why would they do so??!! On the bright side - I can now have a slightly better resale value for my A100 and I can claim - it HAS a built in screw drive AF!! |

QUOTE(MechaHerc @ May 11 2009, 04:38 PM) No lar! The only thing is these SSM lenses will not have the screw like interface at the lens side to connect with the screw drive in the body. The lenses are driven by the in-built SSM motor in the lens itself and one of the contact points serves as the SSM communication channel with the body. |
