QUOTE(lanusb @ May 3 2009, 01:23 PM) my first flash diffuser was the Demb Flash Diffuser Pro. Good for shooting products and stationary subjects like models shooting. Not good for fashion shows unless you plan to shoot at around 1 spot where the model stands. Bought for RM170. Sold for RM150second flash diffuser is the unbranded stofen bounce. Something like this, but not this brand http://www.lelong.com.my/Auc/List/2009-05D...-58am-Flash.htm Good for my use since I like shooting fashion shows (also the main reason I bought sigma 70-200 instead of 17-50 for model shooting) However, you may find the flash more harsh compared to Demb. Bought for RM40 3rd flash diffuser is Pixco Universal Flash Diffuser bought from DG Color during DCIM 2009 for RM20. Cheap material, a bit spoilt after a week Looks bulky... takes time to attach to flash unit and need to same amount of time to store back into bag http://64.224.191.96/member/Outlethq/Pic/Game/DNEZ008K.jpg Now the 2nd diffuser is always on my flash If you plan to shoot in big events, try not to use big big diffusers. As Albnok says, they look totally unprofessional. Stofen or gel is acceptable. Those like whale tale or the Maggi Cup, are not for pro events. But then again, when do we get to shoot pro events This post has been edited by chiggy: May 3 2009, 03:21 PM |

QUOTE(kopitiam @ May 3 2009, 03:51 PM) flash is a must no matter what lens you geteven at F1.8 (ahmike's 135mm) - also need flash to fill in the shadows especially no flash on that day... let me check... I edit this post when I found them Edit: Oh ya, I just remembered I took a few without flashes just to try them out that day they did not look good in the lcd, so I deleted them immediately though, I found some not flashed, but it is not related to the event ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by chiggy: May 3 2009, 06:01 PM |

QUOTE(danny94 @ May 3 2009, 06:06 PM) depends how dusty is your sensorif just a few specks that cannot be clean using conventional methods (blowing), then it is ok - cuz mine has 4-5 specks. Can't see at big aperture... slight visible at F6.3, more clear at F8 above i'm just gonna wait till it gets more. Of course, during this time, I will still perform conventional cleaning (blowing) to avoid dust sticks to them Added on May 3, 2009, 6:12 pm QUOTE(achew @ May 3 2009, 06:11 PM) they say RM100++ onlyThis post has been edited by chiggy: May 3 2009, 06:12 PM |

only those with F58 will tell you to sell F42
those with F42 (that don't have F58), would tell you not to sell !! This post has been edited by chiggy: May 4 2009, 03:31 PM |

Regarding Fashion Shows (models walk to front and pose)
I've a question about AF-C and continuous (burst) mode Is it supposed that for AF-C to work, it has to use the Centre AF? Somehow, the shots that I get using Local AF (top left on vertical mode) with AF-C burst mode, I can say none is sharp |

QUOTE(Sp00kY @ May 5 2009, 09:36 AM) Sigma 70-200 F2.8 HSM not fast enuf? Err... like that can throw already I read somewhere in this thread that albnok say centre AF focus faster while explaining on something.... so I'm just curious whether when doing AF-C burst mode, have to use centre AF only. |

QUOTE(albnok @ May 5 2009, 01:18 PM) chiggy, the center sensor on the A100/A200/A300/A350 is a cross-type sensor, meaning that it is made of 2 line sensors at 90 degrees from each other. The outer sensors are line sensors so they may not detect detail and 'recognize' focus as easily. therefore on my a350, you would encourage me to use centre AF to get a better focus then? The A700/A900 however has two pairs of cross-type sensors as well as a F2.8 sensor which gets unlocked when a F2.8 lens is used, so it has in total 5 sensors working on the center point. This is why the A700/A900 is faster to focus using the center AF point compared to the Canons and Nikons (The Nikons have more cross-type sensors but no F2.8 sensor so you'll only ever get 2 line sensors maximum working on any AF point, while Canons have a center F2.8 sensor but no dual cross so it's maximum 3 line sensors working on the center AF point.) If you enable Focus Priority, the camera must be very sure that it is in focus before it shoots. Release Priority takes more chances but you get the full FPS of your camera. Mine is always on Focus Priority |

QUOTE(albnok @ May 5 2009, 02:28 PM) chiggy, I didn't find the Sigma to be too confident in Focus Priority when I did those tests in relative poor light (compared to a catwalk.) I usually use Side AF and focus on the face when shooting in a catwalk because with this, I can get at least 75% of the whole model without recomposing the frame. Anyway, can't recompose during AF-C because the focus has to be the same all the way. That said, you will be surprised what is along the same plane of focus as a face. In my experience shooting guitarists, I find if you can focus on the guitar strap the face will most definitely be in focus. So, using side AF point on AF-C, I couldn't get a sharp photo with the models walking towards the front at F3.5 1/160s with Flash This post has been edited by chiggy: May 5 2009, 02:43 PM |
