QUOTE(bysquashy @ May 12 2009, 01:13 PM) It really good that we have a helpful community. We get help and in turn we help others. My boss bought A350 long time ago. We would discuss about Alpha even though we are few thousand KMs apart. He recently wanted to jump to Canon so that his family would have Sony, Nikon, Olympus and Canon (rich people have funny ideas). Today he asked how come my pics are so vibrant and I told him to change his color settings. He found a new love for his Alpha now. How bout Leica.. and those medium format cameras QUOTE(shootkk @ May 12 2009, 01:58 PM) I really don't know what to think about the new alpha models' hand grip ler.... looks to me to be much less comfortable than the existing grip that we have... Hurm... I also thinking the same.. It nice to look, but no idea about ergonomic... Unless the new Alphas are lighter... But how much weight can they reduce for a SLR anyway... QUOTE(alpha_company @ May 13 2009, 12:04 AM) yeah.. figured it would be in the range of f3.2 to f4... from my experience, f2.8 is hard to work with because some body/face features would be out of focus.. actually, f/2.8 is enough to included face in focus, but also depends on subject' distance but every lens is tender to be softer at their wide open, one need to stop down a little bit.

guys, please correct my understanding about "stops" in camera.
1)exposure value assume that 0EV=properly exposed +1EV=double the brightness of 0EV +2EV= quadruple the brightness of 0EV.
2)aperture f/number 1 stop down decrement. 1.4=>2=>2.8=>4=>5.6=>8=>11=>16=>22...
3)shutter speed 1 stop down decrement. 1s=>1/2s=>1/4s=>1/8s=>1/15=>1/30=>1/60=>1/125=>1/250=>1/500...
is that correct?

QUOTE(ieR @ May 15 2009, 02:22 PM) u also can shoot with higher shutter speed, and step -2ev, then in PP, u can add the +2ev (back to neutral 0ev) with less noise~ sometimes i do night/indoor with underexpose in raw, then PP it later (less noise) THAT's the reason why u should use RAW huh? this will works meh? i thought shoot underexposed will be more noise.. then when brighten it up will lessen the noise? there is a thread in dyxum, the thread starter does the opposite way, shot RAW at +2ev, processed -2ev. but that doesn't bring any benefit...

QUOTE(alpha_company @ May 15 2009, 04:10 PM) so does EV+/- effect picture noise like ISO too? guys..help & recommend me. wanna ge cokin filters. my lens is tamron 17-50 f2.8 with 67mm UV filter. 1. What do I need to get & put on the lens for the cokin filters to work? 2. What are the most useful/general filters? 3. What filters are suitable for wedding pics? 1. let other experienced user tell u about this.. 2. depend on you.. u like the warm effect like sunset=tobacco. cool effect=clear blue? u want darker image=ND 3. AFAIK, most ppl use COKIN for landscape.. havent hear any for portrait.. This post has been edited by SinnerBuyer: May 15 2009, 04:19 PM
