What is SGNDT?
The Sendi Mutiara Multimedia Grand National DotA Tournament – short for SGNDT, is an annual DotA tournament of epic proportions hosted directly by Sendi Mutiara Multimedia Sdn. Bhd. (SMM), the official licensing holder of Blizzard products in Malaysia. SGNDT aims to create a prestigious e-Sports hub for Defense of the Ancients (DotA): a custom map from Warcraft III featuring a grandeur premise to attract both local and international participants to foray their skills and talent where only the best of the best shall compete to emerge winners. Last year's SGNDT saw SMM booked a placed in The Malaysia Book of Records on two accounts, the first being the "Highest Prize Money in a PC Gaming Tournament" of over RM 120,000, and the second being "Most International Participants in a Single Gaming Event" (60 gamers from 7 countries: Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, China, and Russia).

Why join the SGNDT?
SGNDT guarantees a spectator sport of high magnitude, record-breaking cash prizes, and remarkable sportsmanship in an attempt to carve a benchmark for what could be the epitome of DotA tournaments worldwide. The worthy champions of SGNDT are rewarded with the most feasible of prizes ever given in a single PC gaming tournament that amounts to RM 42,000 with an exchange rate of 3.5, making it equivalent to USD 12,000 for 1st placing, with the prize money escalating higher each year as promised by Sendi Mutiara Multimedia Sdn. Bhd (SMM). With international participants joining the fray of DotA stardom worldwide, your team might stand a chance to be contenders to overthrow last year’s SGNDT Defending Champions – hailing all the way from China, Team EhomE.

How do I apply to join the SGNDT?
Registration for SGNDT 09’ starts NOW. The process is simple and can be completed online. Below are the following steps:
1) Head over to www.smm.net.my
2) Click “SGNDT Registration”
3) Fill in your complete team and member details.
4) A confirmation email will be sent to your mail-box within 3 working days. Included will be tournament details, venue address, time, and number to contact.
5) Print a copy of the document and submit it on the tournament day itself.
6) A payment of RM 150 is to be made directly on the day of the event. Kindly refer to the state scheduling date for the exact day.

Who are the Organizers/Sponsors of SGNDT?
Sendi Mutiara Multimedia Sdn. Bhd. (SMM) has been the leading image at the forefront of the local PC gaming industry with over 6 years and counting under its belt. Dr. Ricky Lim, the president and CEO of Sendi Mutiara Multimedia Sdn Bhd (SMM) took it in his stride to rapidly build up SMM over the years with corporate accomplishment being set above par, expanded to more than 800 LAN game centers across the country, eradicating privacy and legalizing cyber cafes. SMM, the official licensed distributor for Blizzard Entertainment games (Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo) in Malaysia has been actively organizing the SMM Grand National DotA Tournament (SGNDT), a nationwide competition featuring the best Warcraft DotA team throughout Malaysia. A whooping cash prize of RM 36,000 was handed to the champions of the last SGNDT in 2008 with the prize money constantly increasing on a yearly basis. SMM believes in boosting the e-Sports level of DotA towards a better growth factor by rewarding the pro-gaming community in return.

National Anthem we are talking about Negaraku!
National Stadium we are talking about Bukit Jalil
But dota Grand 'National' champion is not for Malaysian....
What u guys talking about? Grand National tournament should be open just for Malaysian. If smm want to invite International team u can either create another tournament open for all nation or just change the Grand 'National' tournament to something else.
1 more reminder, in order to encourage more dota player in malaysia to continue playing dota, we need to have an all malaysian dota tournament with heavy prize. International tournament no doubt malaysian team will have rare chance to finish among the top beside the top few teams in Malaysia.

i don't agree on this, definition is different. International teams are invited!! and not challenge for the state qualifiers. Is it what you means, for exp Badminton Malaysia Open then we have to bann china or indonesia to take part. Then malaysian sure win!! no challenging at all.

the only reason for doing this is because the only way to challenge international team only via online, and always blame the connection problem when lose in game. One things to prove your great, come and challenge!!

Don't just stick to your own level that tournament haven start yet, u already lose!! assuming rare chance to finish among the top. This is a worldclass tournament, of coz need worldclass team to take part.

THe most important part - SGNDT is organized since 2006, and for international team only started 2008. Just because the word national then have to start up other tournament?? so funny! you know how hard to build up a brand or name ?

alright, just my 2 cents. no offend

i totally agree with Novie because even thought no international team involve. i think the champion will be the same all these year among the few great team that always involve in international tournament.

So what's the different? to have world class team involve is great. at least our Malaysia top teams are pressure to train to higher level. Else i don't see any finale without world class team.

Egpro: The word National totally nothing to do with this tournament. lol so funny, maybe we shall ask SMM to consult you for every decision they made. lol

just kidding, no offend

Reason why smm spend so much money to host this event is to encourage more Dota player in 'Malaysia' to get involve in Dota team play so they can keep on charging the monthly fees on all cyber cafes. Meaning Dota still hot, cafe will subcribe to pay them monthly fees. This money come from local cyber cafes, where as it doesn't come from those international team. So if they continue like this, knowing chance of of winning a big money tournament is slim, u think players still want to concentrate to build their team and go train at cyber cafes? Every dota team in Malaysia ultimate aim is the SMM grand national. It is definitely not good for dota community.
Now SMM trying to kill 2 birds with a stone, trying to lure more malaysian dota players to play dota as well as they want to build their reputation internationally which i think is wrong. Thats why i suggest, they should have 2 different tournament instead of 1. Maybe 1 is Grand national champion and 2. SMM open championship. Where the open championship is for the top 4 national winners + international invited team.

just my 2 cents only, i type so much is for the good of Malaysia Dota community!!! Malaysia Boleh!!!!

The Sendi Mutiara Grand National DotA Tournament is curved to formulate a Malaysian-Open for DotA that plays host to an international platform by which only the very best DotA teams throughout the 10 states shall represent our home soil of Malaysia to compete in the Grand Finals - hence, the term "National".

Speaking of killing 2 birds with one stone, correct theory, flawed comprehension on your part. SMM is indeed increasing the hype and e-Sports value factor for DotA competition worldwide whilst giving the best Malaysian teams from each state an entrance slot to compete with the best DotA players worldwide, be it locally or internationally. This huge motivational boost will inevitably up the integrity and performance of the competition, the local DotA community, and let Malaysia be seen as a force to be reckoned with by international suitors.

If we are not challenging players from other country we will definately be the best among our country, but what's the point? the reason they make this tournament internationally is for us to show our capabilities and see our standard compare to player's from other country. we cannot always be winner within the country oni ler...dun be katak di bawah tempurung ok...

what a good phrase.. "katak di bawah tempurung" !! totally agreed. We as a Malaysian should prove our strength regardless win or loss. At least we tried our best to achieve the best we can.

Do you know that people in China actually work as "gamers"? People there do own a living by just playing games...I mean, it's not a bad thing if we could follow their trends, after all, it can create new jobs for those dropouts rather then let them involve in crime etc...As long as we're not addicted to it, we can work as gamers too. What do u say? flex.gif

That's why in every team, team chemistry is vital, no matter how pro you are, you won't win the team that are same level as you with a good team chemistry.
