Dear classical guitarist, how do you guys determine the string tension to use? There's a lot type of strings on the shelves so how do you choose?

I used to believe Luthier Concert Gold strings are the best for my guitar(Admira Teresa) but a walkaround in Google tells me D`addario receive more fame and support from classical guitar sites. I even saw the statement "D'Addario Pro Arte best picked for Admira Teresa". So I suspect is because I chose the wrong tension string of D`addario that's why It doesn't sound nice on my guitar. I plan to give D`addario another try, (since it's so hard to find Luthier strings in msia) So how to know which string tension should I choose for my guitar? Also another factor to consider is the bass strings, should it be silver or bronze? Thx

The sound is depends, everyone have a different taste, maybe people like the tone but you don't like it. It's just same like i think durian got a nice smells but some might think that smells su.c ks.

I think the tension was meant for how do you pick the string, what music type do you play, and your preference.

few years ago, i buy hard tension string. I only used it for awhile before it torn. later on i decided to tried another hard tension, but i play different song.. a little bit soft. And the string last longer. When my stupid idiot ex-housemate played some rhythm on it, it torn.

I than used medium tension string since than.

i guess, hard tension for soft music or soft play style.

anyway, i don't go for classical guitar class. I am self learner. I might wrong but that's how i learnt.
