Is it possible to upscale the DVD played on HTPC ?
I know its possible using some expensive DVD players, but I dont want to invest to much on a DVD player if I can get it work on HTPC.
Thanks.

DVDs played thru a PC to a HD ready or full HD LCD is automatically upscaled. smile.gif If you use MPC and ffdshow you can fine tune with filters like denoise and sharpen for even better result.

That's one of the advantages of playing a DVD thru PC.

The PQ of DVD playback on my HTPC (via MediaPortal) is much much better compared to via my Pioneer DV610 (upscale to 1080p).

i have seen some graphic card that can, do upscaling for dvd playback, but as far im concern, dvd playback on pc, using players like power dvd are very much better than dvd play back on a dvd player.

Why bother.....i use both HTPC and DVD...no matter how you upscale it still sucks.

Once you seen a HD movie (even a lowly 720p rip), you'll never ever want to look at DVD again.

HD movies all the way!!!!

Wow really? Do you use HDMI cable for your Pioneer? My DV600AV always has the best PQ compared to my PC (using Power DVD). Anyway my PC is quite old...P4 3.4 with 1 gb memory and 256mb AGP nvidia 7800 blush.gif
