QUOTE(clawhammer @ May 7 2009, 04:30 PM) No worries bro ah_khoo meh, i'm just a lite clocker only bro, i can share nothing but some amateurish experience only. dblooi, you've used both Intel and AMD so do you think the current Phenom is faster? Worth to jump camp? QUOTE(xixo_12 @ May 7 2009, 04:31 PM) we're on d same boat sis, but for me it doesn't matter what d oc setup is > gone were d days where higher fsb gives better performance, d thing i concern most is high clock (allowed by my crappy coolin) + low volt. a chip which can overclock well but able to undervolt always give me orgasm... QUOTE(clawhammer @ May 7 2009, 04:30 PM) No worries bro ah_khoo Eeeee....very difficult question, especially have to answer in this thread (lol jk) dblooi, you've used both Intel and AMD so do you think the current Phenom is faster? Worth to jump camp? I think that's depend on your computing purpose & budget. If you're dealing something demanding high memory bandwidth & high instruction per cycle, Ci7 is a good choice if money not an issue. Performance wise 940BE, 955BE are close to Q9550, Q9650. Some AMD CPUs have high c/p ratio, eg the 720BE. Imagine you spend for RM510 but you get the performance like Q9xxx series ( If you're lucky enough) To me, i would love to try the 955BE for its awesome hike under subzero cooling Also i believe the quadie can do well in some 3d benchmarking ( that's why you see i posted a lot of 3d benchmark ss Bad thing to say now, Integrated Memory Controller used to be the pride of AMD but I'd noticed the memory bandwidth performance seems degrading since 90nm. Used to have the ultimate 90nm X2 3800+ and I'm proud to say the memory performance is on par with c2d + rampage extreme + DDR3 ram. The 65nm AMD CPU really sux up big time and for this 955BE, i haven't test thoroughly though. Somehow i feel like it can't beat its predecessor. Will do some testing to figure it out. The other thing is the RAID performance which i mentioned before. My SSD RAID 0 performing poorly with the SB750. Now i even doubt the onboard Jmicron SATA solution can outperform the SB750. If its true then it's real big shame for AMD. This post has been edited by dblooi: May 7 2009, 05:28 PM |

Seriously, the TMPIN 1 and 3 gone haywire...where does this TMPIN located, mobo or proc...I got to send either one for replacement or RMA lar like this...
TMPIN 1 is stuck at 45 no matter what and TMPIN 3 has a maximum of only 60... During my last Priming session I noticed the temps weren't moving even after I stop prime nearly 1 hour and manually touched heatsink both Proc and Northbridge which clearly indicates that if the TMPIN readings were to be true, my finger didn't felt any excessive hear at all... And during Priming the temps readings on TMPIN 1 and 3 are both non-reflect the temps of the Proc and NB which I also manually touch and feel.... Another thing when I enable in Bios regarding temp shutdown at 75c....my PC shuts off even when the readings in HWMonitor and Overdrive during priming never showed 75c This post has been edited by antonio: May 7 2009, 10:42 PM |
