Sorry to say but it doesn't make sense at all.
Overclocking by changing multiplier only brings no burden to your board and it should be much stable method.
You can even do very good oc with chaplang mobo & ram.
In the other way, oc with increasing HTT involves your board and ram. You think things will become easier when more complicated stuffs added in?
In my case, it's either insufficient vcore or overheated. That's it. Will figure it out tonight.
Not to against you but just to point out the right fact.
no offense taken bro, i mentioned it becoz i encountered d scenario myself. d lower multis i'm referrin to are not low multis like 10 - 14 which require one to do high htt like 250 or 300. for eg, on 7750BE, i can't hit 3.3GHz w/ 16.5 * 200htt, d setup was bootable but very unstable regardless d temp (< 60'c)/volt (<1.6v). but w/ "lower multi (that i mean)", i was able to do prime stable @ 3.3GHz w/ 15 * 220htt. any multi > 16 was as gud as nothing to me back then when i still own d chip. w/ lite htt oc like 220 things are not that complicated at all.
i've seen some heavy oc done in xs that involve mix of "lower multi (that i mean)" & lite htt oc. so w/ my own experience backed by some examples that i read i took d risk to make suggestions to some of d guys here.
but as we all knew, oc mileage for everyone is diff, even w/ same piece of hardwares one mite not get d exact result as others.
cheers

2 master edy spoken out.....ah-khoo u should try other mobo like asus , gigabyte or msi...dont just always say DFI ~~~DFI~~~DFI only
i dun have d luxury of tryin a$u$ board bro, financially not allowed coz i'm not single & w/ limited income, i need to think of some other things while keepin myself happy (obviously gud hardwares). i'm nowhere near bro dblooi & bro clawhammer (otai since k7 era), i'm just voicin out my suggestions as an user only...

of all those that i manage to try were abit ax78, biostar 790gx a2+ & d loan unit in 790gx3. dfi was d furthest that my wallet can afford, no regret thou d board is no longer w/ me now.
