My fren tried JB his unlocked 3G iphone, and somehow screw up the process.

the iphone is with me rite now, it showed a message- to insert valid sim card to active iphone and when i connected it to Itune (version 8.2), there is a similar message from itunes- needs a supported sim card to active the iphone.

Does it mean the iphone has been locked? any necessary process?

yes, the internet connection is on.

but once iphone connected, Itunes' message asked for a valid sim card to active iphone first....

i did sucessfully JB my sis NZ iphone using redsn0w and ultrasnow but i dun know what my fren did to his Iphone

issue rectified, i just connected the iphone without Itunes and JB directly without updating the firmware

It is now JBed...

Just receive my Maxis Iphone 3GS on 3.0.1, ready for JB but was lucky that i came to this thread to double confirm on the process.

from Page 1 and all useful info provided by kind forumers, can i summarized as follows for my unlocked Maxis Iphone 3GS JB:-

1. since the OS is 3.0.1, i dun hv to restore nor update the firmware vide Itunes verion 8 and above , just use Redsn0w 0.8 to JB, choose IPSW 3.0 instead of 3.01.

2. after JB, go direct to Cydia, run Cydia to enable the store of ECID in order to "secure" any future restore/downgrading and JB process since Itunes will only update firmware to 3.1 which currently cant be JB.

Please correct me if i am wrong, just putting what i understand into simple language

Ok....Got it after upgrading sources for Cydia, just click "make my life easier", and message on my cydia now- "this device has a pending TSS request"

in trouble now.... was using my JB 3gS fine until Cydia cant run and with a message- Error: Datebase encoutnered a section with no package header....

did some research online that it can be fixed by SSH, problem is how to i get SSH when i didnt install one prior to the prob....

anyone here...pls help!!!!
