mixing. studio in taman tun. popshuvit's guitarist, who has recorded so many other bands. AIM winner. www.myspace.com/studio2105

Nick Lee 0123053085
both mixing and mastering. studio also located in taman tun. one of the nicest recording studios i've been in. not only does music bands but from advertisements (such as those petronas CNY) to movies too. in a band context, alot of people would go to his studio to record drums. another AIM award winner (which you can see the awards lying around the mastering room). I forgot Nick's website.

the best mastering in the country is still arguably at King's Studio done by CL Toh.

it's either spoiling the market, or "you get what you pay for".

those who do a great job on mixing and mastering is around RM1500~RM2000 per mix, and same price per master. means, it'll be at least RM3000 to mix + master a song.

and i've deal with some big names, but only charges as low as rm600. that's right, it's a rm600 mix.

i can't believe anyone who's into mastering would come out with that kind of price. how to make a living? you need to master 30 songs in order to gain RM3000 per month, not to mention the maintenances and bills?

i know an excellent local engineer who solely mix and master stuffs for overseas. he charges USD$1000 per mix (not sure about master) for europe/US customers, and still doing very well. and he's got the most detailed way of work, and what's what set it apart from many many other local engineers i've seen.

do u really think a studio that does mastering for mainstream artists nationwide only gets 1 album a month to do?
and these studios are of cos not solely mastering.
dunno if u've ever been in kings, which is one of the oldest in malaysia, but they basically do everything there.
its also pretty run down cos of its age, but if u flip thru most mainstream artists im sure u'll see CL Toh mentioned in the mastering credits.
