hi peeps!! going to be a BB-er soon.

just got one question that i wanted to know loooooooooong time ago even i've been reading this pages for some time but still confused.
** i just want a BB for normal phone call, sms, and online **

1 - i buy BB but not subscribing to the BIS, is it possible if i use the inbuilt wifi to online? like normal wifi phones?
1.1 - isit by changing the broswer option to "hotspot browser"?
1.2 - isit possible if i use normal 3G to online? like i'm a hotlink user, i pay RM2 and online for an hour w/o subscribing the BIS.

2 - if i dun subsribe BIS, can i still send MMS vis 3G? because i see people writing, no BIS, no everything. need some explanations,

3 - if i wanna save some mp3s and images to BB, its just like normal drag and drop to the memory card/phone memory will do right? no need to hesitate like iphone, right?

hope someone is kind enough to help me >.< really very new to BB and wanna get one for myself. pls don't ask me to google, i really tried and get no answer. my friend wouldn't even help.

*wanting a storm2*

1 - Yes (for browser & 3rd party app which is not downloaded from RIM ONLY)
1.1 - Yes (for browser & 3rd party app which is not downloaded from RIM ONLY)
1.2 - IF there is your telco WAP option in the browser configuration, I think you may be able to do so. Cannot confirm on this for browser though never tried it myself - as for 3rd party app can only confirm for google maps only as of now.

2 - Nope.

3 - depends on the medium (e.g: PC/laptop to BB vice versa - using app manager, PC/laptop/BB/other phone to BB vice versa - using send via BT)

my suggestion is go get BIS to fully utilize your future Storm2 - you'll be surprised at how addicted you'll be  thumbup.gif

but berry expensive lar the BIS thing, RM98/month for hotlink user as i'm already been paying RM88/month for streamyx.
yes means just use other browser lor. like i go facebook and others just use browser la.
about apps, i dun really mind it. i just want the phone for the sake of wanting it.
like how the hotel maids using an iphone for the sake of wanting it.

when i just bought my storm2, i get to see the "globe" icon next to the "space" button when i typing for me to change input language.

but then lepas i tukar sim card and start my phone, no more globe icon. i only can input ABC... cannot input chinese...

where the globe go?

i tried to change at option > language and test input > language.... only got english, english US and english UK.

apa dah jadi?

Hi,welcome to Blackberry world bro. For the blackberry battery, its normal that battery finish for 1 day. Sometimes,if you are using for BIS,it only can last for half day. But, for storm 2, some people said that it can last for 20 hours in heavy usage. About your wifi, i am not sure bro, maybe other user have same experience

i see that there are a lot of versions...
like...
5.0.0.1168
5.0.0.1682
5.0.0.1713
5.0.0.1385
i dont know which one should i install?
is there anything like baseband or what not like iphone?
like 4.3.2 for GSM and 4.3.5 got Verizon?

but i've done some research
in swdownloads.blackberry.com
maxis, digi and celcom also having 5.0.0.1168
so i guess i just use this one instead?

i'm helping my friend to upgrade but i scare i break his phone
later he makan my iphone i die.

@drezzay: probably.

@diners: any firmware is okay, as long as its MEANT for the model. Remember, different models have different firmware names. What you've highlighted is just the version sets that differenciates the builds, nothing more.

Thank you for the fast reply.
But just wondering why rim needs to make so many different different versions?
