I jst gifted my sis a second hand bb phone which wasn't yet used by its owner but as it seemed pretty attractive and budget friendly i bought it for my sis. Well ("to me the phone is a dumb piece of shit" ) it's been hardly a month from the day i bought it for my sis and now i too feel this is truly one of the worst and a cheap phones that bb has launched. (i am so unfortunate in gifting it to my sis, really this embraces me a lot) It takes forever to start up, requests for about 45 minutes before it actually opens a new search. Even the menu and back 'keys' fall flat into the screen and forms convex shapes which are far from smooth, the qwerty keypad keys also have the tendency to stop working. (ie. Letters : A; Spacebar; and alt). Currently im facing some problems while using this blackberry curve 8520's browser , I am not able to access web despite of already being connected to a wi-fi network even if it is for free or even have an access in a secured network. Also her bb app world just suddenly disappeared though she haven't used it b4. I doubt it is because i updated her software version?

Even I tried everything but couldn't sort it out. Now to me the only option seems is to reset the phone back to factory settings but i am unsure does it affect the existing data on her phone from getting lost. Even while updating the OS version of the phone i doubted i would lose all her data on the phone but anyhow i took a chance and succeeded in installing a new version on it. However i still doubt whether it really got successfully installed or it is the only thing which have caused this problem. Any one could pls help me out? Once it gets sorted i'll definitely get rid of this phone which have so far created pain in my arse...

Hi i am facing a lot of problem with my sis's bb 8520 whom i gifted few mnths ago after upgrading the os version to latest 5.0 but now her battery drains too quickly which makes me think i have have messed up the phone after upgrading the os version which i shudn't have done.

I pretty upgraded the phone by referring a tutorial on a website but i doubt i have made some mistake while upgrading the phone which now ultimately creates pain in my arse. Now even track pad have stopped working and i am not able open various apps and wifi . Previously the media player which was working flawlessly prior to upgrading the phone is now showing some sort of error due to which it is not able to play any media file.

I should admit here that initially the phone had some battery issues when bought however the battery used to last for 5-6 hrs which now lasts not more than 3 yrs. Even after browsing for long hours along with gaming the battery performance was quite good which have recently deteriorated without using the phone either for gaming or browsing. Lastly i googled and found abt gps, wifi and bluetooth facilites which hog up maximum battery if kept on by mistake but being so keen she never keeps them on uneccessarily and she does not use it at all. Even i asked a friend who currently owes bb 9300 and he asked me to reset the phone. Will resetting the phone will solve the problem? But it seems to me risky as i doubt resetting the phone will delete all the data on the phone as i have never resetted the phone b4.

It is always good to be noob rather trying to be an expert. This is what i feel. Any could pls help me solve this problems?
