Ace is Gol's son but when he was captured, he asked Garp to take care of his wife and unborn child. Garp fulfilled Gol's final wish and take care of Gol's family. Then he claimed that Ace is his grandson due to the fact that the marine was looking for Gol's successor.

I don't think luffy will give a damn either ace is his real brother or not. Because to him ace is family.
