I like AMD for their way of thinking, balance platform, not too extreme on one side

The future is fusion... XD

Too bad they make it "future" or postpone it, hehe... I was hoping it happens earlier, but then economic downturn make everything slow down.

That one is comparing his Automobile Engineering, which is more towards mechanical side, less electronics.

that's what i am thinking now, i mean : look at everything in our daily life, even cars also consists of electronic circuit, so, it will be better to master myself with electronic knowledge, since my scholarship offers me to finish until master, so i will have to seriously think abt my choice
*
Electronic market is very volatile one, it can go up and down in an instant. Car is slightly stable. But if the economic is damn bad, nobody can spend bigger capital goods like car, nobody want to buy electronic stuff, both also will go down together.

haha. nice quote from chinese idioms, true..i don't think intel will last long, just like microsoft, they will come to an end one day, just soon or later
*
The market need competition, you can see Intel have the highest priced processor because AMD does not have the strength to provide the highest end processor. Just like so many years ago, we pay a very high price for Pentium 3.

that's the prob told by my lecturer. he say there is not 100% certain choice yet...so he say have to depend on our luck also, hopefully by the time  i finish my master 5 years from now, the economy cycle will turn to the top again
*
Usually is a 10 year cycle, so you should be safe at that time. But this time the economic down turn has change the way consumer spending the money.

but years later even amd is cheap its still more powerfull than intel.
astria izzit correct? before the dual core generation.
*
If the market left AMD, it is not a healthy sign. You can see in Malaysia, a lot of monopoly don't yield competitiveness of the company. If the graphic market left Intel only, we gonna get crappy word capable gpu. If Nvidia is the only gpu maker, we will not get 9800GTX+ priced at current market price. AMD and ATI creating competitive market that benefit the consumer.

for AMD's cse it's sort of viscious cycle...

CPU not appealing, less demand

less demand, lower price to stimulate it

lower prices = less profit

less profit = less money for R&D

less R&D = not so good CPU

so yeah..

till now they still having quite a lot of debt...

hopefully once The Foundry is setup, things will get better for them...
*
At least AMD lose less amount compare to the last quarter, hope they can turn profit this year. Then Intel will start waking up.

yes, this lawis very useful, at least can protect customers from being manipulated by those big company. If not, we won't have linux and mac OS now
*
They cannot tear that agreement, since the current x64 is from AMD own creation, Intel will lose all the 64bit processor, AMD cannot make any x86 base processor. The processor market will collapse. Therefore, definitely the government will come in and stop such dispute.

they will need to bank on Phenom II... at least it can attract overclckers... the new Phenom II x4 955BE reportedly can hit 7GHz on liquid nitrogen...
*
Overclocker is a small market, but their platform provide upgrade path for current AM2+ user is a plus. Not like Intel tick-tock model, you have to change everything.

hmm...it will now depends on how AMD promote their 640-bit proc
*
For pushing 64bit, Microsoft can influence the market a lot. See how they make Intel follow AMD 64bit and drop their own 64bit Itanium last time.
So Microsoft must provide good 64bit support and make the 32bit version of OS less available, then the major consumer will start use 64bit.
