Doesnt look like ceylonensis, but I may be wrong.

@fongzai,
Dwarf hairgrass IMO, needs

moderate to high amounts of light,

Moderate to high amounts of c02..

In other words, moderate to high tongue.gif

Yea should be fine..

Also, Bacter ball just boost filter beneficial bacteria activity, Nice concept fongzai, BUT, Algae doesn't nly appear from high ammonia n02, n03 levels.. N03 for example, can only be removed by healthy plants or water change... so don't rely it there..

Algae appears also from overdosing fetilizer, bad tank maintenance- not enough TLC , and unstable c02.. biggrin.gif

" Please do not reduce nutrients like NO3 and PO4 in planted tanks to fight algae! By reducing them you will only induce algae even more! NO3 and PO4 can cause algae issues ONLY if they are MISSING! "

Is too GENERAL IMHO. What if the tank is not as healthy? not much plants maybe? then how would this apply lol. If the plants aren't even having optimum conditions to begin with, let's say a tank with no c02, 29Celcius , and this guy still fertilize it, even with full fledge rotalas, they'd melt somehow due to no c02 injection. ( further contributing bad elemts to the water column)

IN a healthy tank on the other hand, we purposely dose phosphate , pottasium and nitrogen.. hence NPK. tongue.gif and nitrate would be kept minimum automatically due to the high plant mass...

Just sharing, feel free to correct me. biggrin.gif

@kevin,

Not probably, It is that the plants are not receiving either enough c02, light, or the water parameters is bugging them ( hows the temperature? ) And what soil if I may ask.

The green on which is stuck on glass is either green spot algae or green dust algae, only the brown easy to remove ones are diatoms or plainly brown algae..

Nah, "temperature is quite high" answer ain't gonna work. Try celcius LOL... That may be the cause of it, try getting it around 28C or below ? Also, how's the filter?

If it's ADA , not a necessity to change unless you have that constant bad habit of changing it biggrin.gif

ADA could last for 5 years ... as they mentioned...

Copper is an enemy of all invertibrates.. If you have snails or other shrimps crawling in there, and they're alive, then it's not copper biggrin.gif.

Copper can come from fish medication, anti snail medication etc etc etc.

if snails are present, scratch out copper.. Now I'm suspecting your filtration power and water quality.. also, how's your maintenance?

Pinchboys san releasing poison into this thread lol.

@cata, Carbon is NOT A BIO FILTRATION MEDIA.. and yes it is true it will release all the gunk it sucked out after a period of time...

BIO media are things like Bio rings, ADA BIo rio, etc etc. Carbon is chemical filtration

@fongzai,

Please trim all the old hairgrass leaves.. as they would only attract algae and bba...

@fongzai, That's the point of using the bacter 100...

I'm also using the powder type.. not using the ball type.. Bancuh like milo, spread entirely troughout tank..

If your filter is healthy this will clear in 1 day lol..

I suspect a troll ==

if not, do show us a picture. would like to know the plants and system involved lol... smile.gif

Most importantly what was your dosing regiment, lighting regiment, and filtration... oh.. water parametres ( ammonia, nitrite nitrate , pH, and temperature )...

Either you must be doing something right or this is just weird ==
