QUOTE(FreedomForLife25 @ Oct 24 2009, 02:06 PM) Need fertilizer wan arh? aiks.. i didnt know about that, the water is fine i'm using Diamond filtered water at the moment. calculate how many gallon of ur tank has.. for my 6 gallon tank.. just keep around 12 fishes are enough... fertiliser is a food for the plant.. just like car need petrol.. about use what fert.. better ask for chuppy.. but currently i using double black water and cheap fertiliser... rm7.50, green in colour.. they serve my nana and moss well....Btw is it advisable to crowd the tank with alot of plants and a big wood? Cause i recently added in a wood and now it look very crowded plus adding in java moss at a particular spot of the wood. Does this mean i only can put in a very minimum number of fish only? |

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Oct 25 2009, 05:29 PM) Found out that the filtration rate is slow because i tried it on a low water level. Pump have to work extra hard to pump the water. Tried it again it higher water level and it worked fine. u should plant the plants while put the soil into ur tank... previous post are stated i think... water murky is normal..Changed the leaking tank today and bought some Gex substrate. RM29 for 2kg pack. Put it into the tank and now its running. No plants no fish yet. Water very murky >.<. I also notice that if i move the soil. lots of air bubles comes up. Do i need to move the soil around much and get rid of all the trapped air? |

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Oct 25 2009, 10:35 PM) this is kinda my test run first =.= cause i scared of the below problems - 11W are definetely not enough... tell us what is ur size's tank.. before giv u an answer of how much lighting only sufficient..- lighting enough? currently 11W, but next to window so during daytime shud have some extra power - temperature might get high during day. now at night when its cold, its already 29.6C. scared during daytime can get until 32-33C. the puffer fish might not like it - soil, is it enough? currently 1 inch. do i have to top up with a layer of gravel? - co2. shud i just go ahead with DIY CO2? Next would be java moss + driftwood =D - mine also around 30-31 when the DIY cooler fan is turned off.. with the cooler fan.. can lower to around 28.. - i think should be okay with 1 inch , better ask for chuppy or pitchboy~ - co2.. if u had budget... then go for a pressured co2 tank... will be cheaper if calculate in long-term.. if u hav no budget... then prepare for it.. i - coca-cola or whatever brand 1.5L softdrinks bottle.. air tubes... Co2 Atomizer ii - baking yeast... sugar... soda powder.. normally not cost you more than rm5 only these item.. 2KG of soil can fulfill 1 inch your tank ? what is the size of your tank ? list to me with ?FT x ?FT x ?FT.... thanks~ Added on October 25, 2009, 11:39 pm QUOTE(gecko8 @ Oct 25 2009, 11:10 PM) hey guys ... let us know more information about ur items... or maybe anything u feel that are troubling to u ?need guide from u all bout setting up my 2 feet aquascaping aquarium. just bought aquarium + co2 set.hope u all can help on this matter. QUOTE(daijoubu @ Oct 26 2009, 12:02 AM) Aiks i forgotten to mention tank size yours is about 6.87 gallon... about how many fishes should be same with me.. around 12 ?! if DIY.. i suggest u take 80mm.. with 12V ac adapter will do... just look around any unused charger or any adapter.. just 9V or 12V.. i use 9V.. and i feel its enough for a 12V fan.. sometime the noise are annoying... and rdy to do top up water jobs... need to top up water almost everyday...Its 40cm x 25cm x 26cm 2kg of Gex soil (green bag) can get about 1 inch guess i most prob will go DIY first la. cause i no experience at all, dont want to start right away with expensive setup. scared i got no time to maintain it just a question, how do you all plant the plants? i used cable tie, tie them in a bunch together with a rock to weigh them down and stuff it into the soil. am i doing it right? can i just leave the cable tie and rock down there? Added on October 26, 2009, 3:35 pm QUOTE(Hermanong @ Oct 26 2009, 03:23 PM) guys im seriously poisoned by this thread.. how much budget do i need to start a full setup of a 3ft tank? low-end or high-end 1st ? high end can cause u 1.5K for JUST the equipment.. low end can lower as around 200 maybe ?This post has been edited by fongzai92: Oct 26 2009, 03:35 PM |

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Oct 26 2009, 12:02 AM) Aiks i forgotten to mention tank size so far i never seen people plant with this method... do some youtube works... there are many guides there..Its 40cm x 25cm x 26cm 2kg of Gex soil (green bag) can get about 1 inch guess i most prob will go DIY first la. cause i no experience at all, dont want to start right away with expensive setup. scared i got no time to maintain it just a question, how do you all plant the plants? i used cable tie, tie them in a bunch together with a rock to weigh them down and stuff it into the soil. am i doing it right? can i just leave the cable tie and rock down there? Added on October 26, 2009, 3:44 pm QUOTE(daijoubu @ Oct 26 2009, 01:54 AM) thanks for the advice bro i'll try to diy my fan tomorrow. hope that the fan will bring down the temp. scared in afternoon the heat will bring the temp up significantly. if yes i might need to consider a chiller or change the location of my aquarium. maybe i'll DIY a TEC chiller if really necessary, but im hoping not because it sucks lots of electricity. household lamp ? u mean those 22inch lighting... used for ceiling one ? better dont.. those light are extremely hot.. better go for smaller in size.. T4 or T5... all component in a aluminium box.. just connect to our 240V will light up.. just around rm15 for each.. T4 is 8W.. T5 is 14W i think..as for light, again maybe i'll diy a household lamp onto it =D. cheaper that way right ^^ QUOTE(Hermanong @ Oct 26 2009, 03:36 PM) im going for high end.. im actually very interested in pinchboyz's tank, can anyone pm me his contacts so i could give him a ring. just pm him will do..Im from penang, can anyone recommend me any nice shop selling cheap high end equipments for the 3ft tank? QUOTE(pinchboyz @ Oct 26 2009, 04:13 PM) ok, pmed u d... 90pcs of CADINALs... FUHH.. rm3 for each at market.... just to remind/recall what i have inside the tank... 1) fauna a) Cardinal ~ 90pcs b) SAE/Otto c) Red Cherry Shrimp ~ keep on producing d) Maculata ~10 (catch during local netting activity, hard to find in LFS) 2) flora a) bolbitis b) big anubias nana c) gold anubias nana d) marbel anubias nana e) anubias nana "petite" f) blyxa japonica g) taiwan moss h) Didiplis diandra i) Rotala rotundifolia 'red' j) local fissiden k) Staurogyne sp all the faunas/floras cost a bomb already.... QUOTE(daijoubu @ Oct 26 2009, 04:53 PM) Thanks pinchboyz! Will help greatly in trying to help control the environment 5V maybe ok... because the voltage too low will be powerless.. no point of blowing.. Just Piece of T4 ofcoz not enough... make it 4xT4 like me... total 32watt.. Fishes i plan on 1 puffer, 2-3 ottos and a few shrimps thats all. Puffers takes up 3-5 gals of bioload already. I dont have a 80mm one at the moment but i have a 120mm. Top up should be ok la. I'll find a way to control the fan power. I have an extra switching power supply which i can use. If too powerful i just use 5V instead of 12V. Will try to look up on Youtube videos! Thanks for the advice. Lighting wise, T4 is enough? I'll try to find a way to make a proper reflector, or maybe just buy a cheap reflector. Thanks for your advices! |

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Oct 27 2009, 12:49 AM) I already did a rudimentary DIY air cooler in the past hour or so. Below are the pics: wa.. u use pc's power supply ? wondering will cost u how many watt per hour with it...[attachmentid=1273397] [attachmentid=1273398] So far, cant see much change in the temperature. But maybe cause its night time. Maybe in afternoon would be better. As of now, its about 30.6C at 12pm, but just now at 9pm it was about the same, 30C. Also, the fan is running at 12VDC at full blast, so got abit of noise =.=. Maybe will mod it lower later la I notice the leafy plant is turning abit dark Added on October 27, 2009, 1:22 ami seem to have a problem >.<. i cant seem to plant my plants without something like a rock to hold it down. everytime i stuff it into my substrate, it just floats up, because the substrate is too loose >.< |
