Hey all! Just wanted to share with fellow forumers the nice new Sidewinder stuff Microsoft released. I recently just bought a new set of Sidewinder X6 & X8, so I'll be posting a bit of pictures and a personal review for everyone to read. Enjoy...

Sidewinder X8 Mouse:

Pros
-Nicely weighted and sized, fits my large hands perfectly.
-Nice build quality.
-Nifty QuickTurn & ClickLock feature very, very helpful in FPS games.
-4000dpi, BlueTrack Technology & Wireless plus Charge on the go.
-First ever mouse to feature an LCD Display on it.

Cons
-Scroll wheel isn't exactly smooth, unlike the Logitech G9's wheel.
-Software uses Microsoft Intellipoint which may not be user friendly to some.
-No weight slots like the previous Sidewinder mouse
-Size may not fit all.

^Cool BlueTrack glow, which apparently, tracks better than standard Laser. It can track on Marble & Glass!

Sidewinder X6 Keyboard:

Pros
-Nice red ambient backlighting.
-Programmable Macros.
-Detachable Numeric keypad.
-Lightweight and slim.

Cons
-Software uses Microsoft Intellitype which may not be user friendly to some.
-Red may not suit all tastes.
-Keyboard doesn't tilt up, may be uncomfortable for some.
-Keys feel a little plasticky.

Sorry for the small palm issue bro... Guess I'm lucky that it fits me well then. Anyway, I believe the price I pay for it is seriously worth it, though I hope Microsoft could have improved on certain bits. But nevertheless, it's money well spent!

Yeah it does run on and off charge. So it's wired while charging, and wireless while not - reasons why I love it. Anyway, I think right now the best price I can find is RM275 from kingcom in garage sales, I got my set from him. I couldn't find anyone else selling the X8 mouse. For the keyboard it's RM275 also, but some other guy is selling at RM225 in bulk orders. Funny thing is, I PM-ed him but his response wasn't very nice...

Nice price, sadly I got mine already... Anyway, the X8 is similar in size, and its back slightly larger that's all.

Yeah, it doesn't have the "legs" at the back of the keyboard to tilt it up, which makes a normal RM10 keyboard feel proud about it.

Yeah, it's RM275, like while the fella still has stock. I think kingcom is the only one selling the X8... Cuz like I said, I couldn't find anyone else at all selling the X8...

Anyway, I didn't know a Mamba would cost RM500... Maybe the initial price, but from what I hear, the X8 is actually scheduled to be priced @RM399..

No lar... Look now, MS coming back with their nice new X8. Seems like Microsoft is really making a comeback for Sidewinder.. Think about it this way - how often do you game with joypads nowadays? And was FPS as famous back then? The mice are the new gamepads for games!

This baby's gonna fetch RM350++ IMHO once it floods the market, so the seller tells me...

BlueTrack is the next generation of Laser tracking fellas... Unlike normal laser mice, this mice can track on Glass and Marble. Oh, and no, there are only 2 mice so far with BlueTrack tech - Microsoft's X8 and the Intellimouse Explorer something if not mistaken...

P.S. Am I the only one who owns an X8? Where are the others??

L-O-L... Use mouse on Sandpaper - hey, at least can smoothen the bottom what... I'll try that on my X8..

I was joking la.. Besides, if I damage my mousie's feet, there's 2 sets of "spares". Remember? Check out the pic in the first page, got 2 different sets enclosed within the receiver...

Um, that's the great thing about the X8 mouse, but I don't see the use for using your mouse out of your house though...

After so long, still no sign of x8 owners around.. I'm still waiting for people's responses on how well the x8 is in terms of performance for them..

Wow, I just noticed that the rear of my X8 looks like it has a diffuser, similar to what a Ferrari has... Damn nice..

Hehehe... Time for someone to buy X8 eh?
