To me, the answer is simply to gain exposure. The diverse culture, living and working styles and the different way to prepare food are some good reasons to go out from our comfort zone and get exposed. Added on August 30, 2009, 1:42 amand University of Berlin toooo!
In Asia, we work from 9am to 10pm (sometimes even 12 midnight). Overtime is not a big deal. It is like part of our culture. In Europe, if the working hours are 9-5, everyone leaves at 5pm. It is odd to find someone works overtime for free especially until midnight.
I encourage those who can afford to go out to learn. There is something to learn out there, not from our textbooks.
