Currently on MAXIS business one plan 188 (still got 8months contract) = 20GB data

Also another line is DiGi 48 = 3GB data

I think I don't need that much of data. What would be the recommendation to reduce my monthly bills?
*
Downgrade your DiGi SP48 to DiGi SP28 ? Or convert your DiGi line to DiGi best prepaid and MNP to Tron one month later ?

i'm looking for prepaid that have the best quota/RM. I will be using it on a 3g dongle for my laptop. I'll be using upto 1hr++/day for gaming and occasional youtube.

Call and sms is no matter as i have a separate sim in my phone.

any prepaid plan recommendations please?

thanks.
*
Best quota/RM should be Celcom Xpax Magic SIM Burung Hantu (RM10 for 10GB but it is only for use between 1am - 7am) biggrin.gif

looking to move away from umobile.

anyone to recommend?

1. decent signal/coverage. umobile so bad here.
2. cheap (low usage, maybe call out max 1 hour in a month, seldom sms, i dont use much data, mostly text). umobile is ok here.
3. roaming. i liked umobile 50MB free a month until they removed it. hate umobile for this.
4. low cost member line. umobile is ok here.
*
Are you looking for prepaid or postpaid ? From the first 3 points it looks like prepaid (low usage) but then you mentioned low cost member line which suggests postpaid.

Anyway, have you tried Tunetalk (rides on Celcom network) ? Or you can consider Tron (rides on DiGi network) too. For low cost call Tunetalk is probably cheaper but it will still be more expensive than UMobile (provided you're on Power Prepaid plan with RM0.05/30 sec. For the cheapest call rate on prepaid, UMobile is the undefeated champion.

It's probably DiGi Postpaid 28 More Internet then. It comes with 1GB data, 50 minutes call and 50 SMS.

can try onexox

simpack rm10...free 28 months validity if mnp, topup rm10 within 24 hrs once activated or topup rm50 within 30 days once activated to get the 28 months validity

What happens when the 28 months validity is up ? Can we extend the validity by another 28 months or am I asking this question too early already ? biggrin.gif

Validity will be extended with every topup

Eg: topup rm30 every month, the validity will be 28 months + 360 days

If no topup made during 28 months, the number will be terminated after 3 months after the 28 months validity end

Thanks.

Finding a plan for my mother. She's been using old celcom prepaid so far. Any postpaid plan around rm35-45 that is good for calls to different telco? No data needed, she doesnt use any.

Umobile is the best so far in terms free call, but network isnt good at my johor kampung.

I browsed maxis, celcom.. call rate aint so good
*
Postpaid is gonna be expensive. Besides, most postpaid plan comes bundled with data these days.

How about Tunetalk ? They ride on Celcom network so call reception should be fine. RM0.16/min and RM0.10/min from the 3 minutes onwards.

Tunetalk prepaid easy to get at kampung area?
I have umobile myself, if at kampung the bar is usually just 2-3 bar max for calls.
*
You can just port-in your mom's number to Tunetalk. No change of mobile phone number is necessary. As for reload, you can help her to reload online.

I'm currently subscribed to digi postpaid 48 with 3GB data, I don't quite understand if I should change to prepaid.

Is prepaid cheaper? I don't use much sms/calls
*
What's the average usage of your calls and SMS in the past 2-3 months ? You should be able to get a clue there. And do you always fully utilize your 3GB data ? Or 3GB is accessible for you ?

QUOTE(feelsbadman @ Jul 11 2016, 08:55 AM)
Also looking to change my mother's plan, she calls overseas around 30min per week, is there any plan suited for this?
*
First you should check the IDD call rate. For instance, my dad always calls to the US. Previously he called using his Maxis Postpaid line but he later found out it is a lot cheaper to call from Hotlink number (RM0.16/min from Maxis Postpaid vs RM0.04/min from Hotlink). He had checked DiGi Prepaid IDD call rate to the US and Hotlink is much cheaper.

Hi Sifu's

I am planning to get a postpaid line which has Unlimited Internet (anything above 3GB is more than sufficient for me) & Unlimited Voice Calls.

Currently I set my eyes on Hotlink PostPaid 40, are there any other cheaper alternatives under a postpaid plan?
*
Hotlink Postpaid 40 doesn't come with unlimited data though. U Mobile Giler Unlimited Prepaid 38 (RM35/month) perhaps ? Do make sure U Mobile reception is good at the places you frequent by buying a prepaid SIM to test it out first though. Can't think of any postpaid plan that comes with unlimited data priced below RM50/month.

Clueless guy who doesn't understand what hotspot means. Will it affect me if I use a 4g modem for Internet? Do I need unlimited hotspot besides unlimited data.?
*
QUOTE(agewisdom @ Oct 9 2020, 08:54 PM)
Same situation as you here.

From what I gather, even if you use USB teether or hotspot or 4G modem, it'll still activate the hotspot clause. Because some mobile dataplan have unlimited data. However, that's for the phone only.

If you use this dataplan to run your PC broadband, it'll activate the hotspot which has a limited quota of say 6GB monthly depending on the plan.

Not sure if my understanding is correct or not. But I think it is, else everyone will start using mobile data plan as their main broadband.
*
Most postpaid plans have no separate hotspot limit. Only some postpaid plans that come with unlimited data have hotspot limit, such as Digi Postpaid 80/100 Infinite, Celcom MEGA Unlimited M/L, U Mobile Giler Unlimited Postpaid GX50/68 etc.

If you are talking about the regular postpaid plans such as Hotlink Postpaid, Maxis Postpaid (MaxisONE 98/108/128/158/188), Digi Postpaid 80/120/160/190, Celcom MEGA Lightning M/L/XL, all these plans do not have separate hotspot quota. You can use your data directly from your mobile phone or via hotspot.

Digi Postpaid 150 Infinite is truly unlimited - high speed unlimited data unlimited hostpot.

QUOTE(sidewinder2203 @ Nov 1 2020, 11:41 AM)
Now currently waiting to port in to Celcom postpaid ~RM150 plan. Their so called Mega unlimited and Mega lightning is just full of crap. Unlimited gives u 15mbps speed whilst "lightning" to justfy their max speed is only 30mbps. Could be lower in real life
*
Celcom MEGA Unlimited L capped speed of 15Mbps is applicable only to video streaming sites, the rest is high speed. Assuming high speed in your area is 30Mbps, then the real speed is 30Mbps when surfing all websites other than video streaming sites.

As to why Celcom MEGA Lightning M/L/XL is only 30Mbps, this is area dependent. In some areas you may get over 100Mbps, in some it is 10Mbps or so. Generally any mobile carrier can give you a stable and consistent 4G speed around 30Mbps to 50Mbps in this country is considered quite good, for now.

QUOTE(briantwj @ Nov 10 2020, 04:39 PM)
Hi guys, currently I'm on UMobile Hero postpaid 79. Am surveying to add a supplementary line under me. Thing is for UMobile, the supplementary line does not get unlimited calls.

My requirement as of below,
1) Main line and supplementary line need to have free unlimited calls.
2) In terms of Data allocation, around 15gb should be enough, each for main and supplementary line.
3) budget at RM100 - RM120.
4) I do hotspot tether a bit for my Switch, Ipad and laptop. Preferably hotspot can be drawn from main Data pool, not separate pool.

What are my choices?

Umobile Hero postpaid - not feasible, coz supplementary line only free 30 minutes call to Umobile number

Celcom Mega - unlimited calls, 40gb data. RM80 for main line + RM20 for supplementary line (4th months onwards revert to RM40).

Digi postpaid - unlimited calls, 40gb data. RM80 for main line + RM38 for supplementary line.

Maxis postpaid - unlimited calls & sms, 40gb data. RM98 for main + RM48 for supplementary line. Too expensive la Maxis.

I'm looking at Celcom and Digi now, as both offers free unlimited calls for supplementary line. But how does the hotspot works for both? I tried finding for keyword hotspot in Celcom FAQ, they didn mention. Digi does not have FAQ section for hotspot. Any feedback from you guys on how this hotspot works for both Celcom n Digi? They have their own pool or drawn from main Data pool?

Or is there any other Telco that I left out?  biggrin.gif

For Digi Postpaid 80, your total data will become 80GB after this particular line of yours has been active with Digi for 24 consecutive months. Basically you will get an extra 10GB loyalty data every 6 months for 4 times.

As for hotspot for Digi Postpaid 80, the data quota displayed on your app is all good for hostpot. There is no hotspot restriction for Digi Postpaid 80 or any or its supplementary lines.

FYI, Digi Postpaid 80 Family lines each get 40GB data + unlimited calls only. Only the principal line get additional 300 SMS per billing cycle. The loyalty data i mentioned earlier does not apply to Digi Postpaid 80 Family lines. So it means after 24 months staying active with Digi, your principal line will get 80GB data whilst the data for all supplementary lines will stay 40GB each.

hi. May I know is there any difference in unlimited calls and sms to all networks between Maxis Postpaid and hotlink postpaid (and maybe other telco too)? Since is unlimited , is it really required to go for supplementary line?
I am currently using Postpaid + Supplementary line. Seems like hotlink postpaid is offering better deal (if do not compare data). thanks
*
No. There is no difference. Supplementary line for Maxis Postpaid (MaxisONE) is optional. A lot of my friends on MaxisONE 98 do not have a supplementary line.

Recommendations for a data plan to be used for home family usage?

No calls or sms needed, just high limit and able to be tethered through my current Asus DSL modem router if possible. Up to 6 devices shared at home. Thanks.

Besides Unifi Air and Digi Postpaid 150 Infinite the previous poster mentioned, you can also consider MaxisONE Go WiFi. The price is RM138 for non-Maxis Postpaid subscriber and RM108 for Maxis Postpaid subscriber and the RM108 monthly fee is applicable for 12 months only. After 12 months the monthly fee will revert to RM138.

Hi kind folks, some advice needed.

I'm currently using a Digi postpaid plan for over 4 years, RM55 per month with unlimited calls and not sure how much internet quota, since I never run out. I'm looking for the cheapest plan by any provider with decent call and internet (I realized I don't make much phone calls anymore since I graduated). My priorities are just getting GPS working since I drive a lot, does anyone have any recommendations since I have a feeling RM55 per month is quite a lot and I'd like to save some cash.
*
Digi has both prepaid pass for RM28/month as well as Digi Postpaid 28 also for RM28/month. The Digi Prepaid bIGbonus 28 pass offers overall better value since it offers more data but only for certain hours every day on top of all-day data.

Hi guys,

I never use prepaid, being Maxis postpaid customer since 2001.

So, last time i heard, for prepaid u need top up every now and then to keep your number valid. Not sure how long of the period, but does the requirement still exist for current prepaid plan?

Actually, i need recommendation which telco has prepaid package which don't need to top up or maybe has the longest period of validity before i need to top up?

The reason is I bought my kids phone for online classes, surfing youtube, play games but those phone will be using my house wifi, so definitely don't need to top up. I just need the valid simcard so easy to register into google meet, go into google playstore and any other app which need registration.

Thanks a lot.

Any data plans to recommend for 2 people, heavy internet usage for both work, gaming and Netflix, and we stay around Puchong area? We’re renting a room so we’re using a 4g lte modem router

I’ve tried unifi air but the speed was really really slow and the WiFi is very unstable to the point or becomes unusable.. ;-;

I just subscribed to Celcom Mega Plan lightning M (Total Quota 40GB) . I don't see any T&C that mention about speed cap of 5mbps except for Unlimited Quota plan. Is this true?
*
The plan you subscribe to is the base Celcom Mega plan, not Celcom Mega with Lightning M Pass because the said pass comes with an extra 10GB data (total is 50GB).

Area dependent and performance between day and night could be very different too. Best is to buy a Celcom Xpax to try it out first before you MNP your Digi line over to Celcom.
