I plan to MNP to Maxis Value Plus Internet 80 and Value Plus Internet Supp for my wife
I find this is the most suitable plan for both of us at the moment since we do need mobile data but low usage volume

My question is more about Maxis quality of service:

1) Most important - How is Maxis customer service centre and call centre? Do they solve problem professionally? I can understand call centre queues but will calls be attended or forever nobody pick up like U Mobile?

2) How is Maxis network speed in general? Browsing got lag? Got the current Digi snail speed problem??

3) A few fellow LYN forumers alleged Maxis overcharging on data that is not used, and got bill shock of >RM200. Have anybody experienced this before?

4) Will u recommend to switch to Maxis?

Thanks in advance for any help rclxms.gif

I am using maxis value 50, my current bill is around 50 to 70. I assume my usage will be lowered to 50 to 50+ in the coming months... Is there any other better telco plan than my current plan? Is DG 50 plan still available? I can't seem to find it in digi website but I still see it during January. More info on my usage below.

Based on my previous bill, I have made total 355 calls which is around 5 hour duration (which will be lowered to 3 to 4 hours), SMS sent is around 35. Didn't use any internet data at all.

So which telco plan is suitable for me.

1. The customer service is good

2. In general , Maxis speed is very fast and stable , you can get 3G signal almost anywhere in Malaysia

3. They probably forgot to turn off the mobile connection , that's why their phone still connected , It is not Maxis fault , I never experienced this though

4. Yes , recommended !

so , around 240 mins of calls blink.gif

no DG 50 but Digi 48 Plus ... but I recommend you to stick with Maxis Value 50 ,

in Maxis Value 50 , [assumption]
240 mins of calls x RM 0.18 =RM 43.20
35 SMS X RM 0.15 = RM 5.25

TOTAL = RM 48.45

if you want to say the best in terms of call/sms rate , you mean by the cheapest right..? biggrin.gif
if prepaid,

Tune Talk --> 16 sen/min , 5 sen/ SMS , 5 sen/ 1MB data
Umobile --> 18sen/min , 9sen/30sec[charging block for calls] , 8 sen/SMS , 5sen/1MB data
Celcom Xpax --> 28 sen/ 3 min , 5sen/ SMS

actually for prepaid they also have extra things such as reload Bonus , extra bonus and other things [promotions] , so Its up to you to find which one is the best..

because it hard/difficult to find the best, every time they come with new promo
well, for postpaid , it depends on which package that you choose.. , there are no flat rate for every package  smile.gif

So, just take a lower data package.. biggrin.gif

go for Celcom package  biggrin.gif  ,

go for Celcom Exec 50 + Celcom Broadband mBasic [1GB] = RM 88/month

the price of the phone is RM 1378 [for 18 month contract] or RM 1488 [for 12 month contract]

if you want Maxis ,

Maxis package , Value Plus 50 + 1GB data [RM 48/month] = RM 98/month

the price of the phone is RM 1949 [for 12 months contract] , RM 1849 [ for 18 months contract] , RM 1749 [for 24 months contract]

if you want Umobile ,

U28 , 1GB data + 100 free SMS to Umobile no. + 200 free SMS to other telco no.

so, lets calculate this, smile.gif

22 mins calls = 22 X RM 0.20 = RM 4.40

SMS[i only take 200 free SMS , since I dunno whether you have friend that use Umobile]

SMS , free 200 SMS , the rest 200 SMS = 200 X RM 0.12 = RM 24 ,

So = RM 28 + RM 24 + RM 4.40 = RM 56.40 wink.gif

Cheap , yes.. it is cheap.. but I'm not recommended it if you aren't in Klang Valley area and always go to other location/place..other than Klang Valley..

Umobile still new and not stable.. but well.. it is cheap , when it is stable, the speed is very fast  biggrin.gif

The price of the phone is RM 1599 for 24 months contract biggrin.gif

For Digi ,

Digi Smart Plan 48 [1GB] + 22 mins of calls [22 X RM 0.15] + 400 SMS [400 X RM 0.10] = RM 48 + RM 3.30 + RM 40 = RM 91.30

the price of the phone is RM 1399 for 24 months contract or RM 1599 for 12 months contract

Digi is cheap.. but still not good in coverage and stability..

Bro kae7,

I am back biggrin.gif .. Want to wonder, how about the special iPhone 3GS deal from Maxis? http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/iphone/rates.asp

RM79 for:

- Free 200 mins Maxis to Maxis (so cover the phone call part)
- Free 200 SMS (I plan to maybe add the 500 sms for RM8 one?) so cover my SMS
- then extra 250mb for any small surfing requirements..

Plus I can then buy an Iphone 3GS (not sure the market rate) for 199, drawback is contact for 2 years lo.. Is it ok?

need suggestion.. i'm planning to take phone smartphone deals in which right now i'm still searching for best for value.. as DG offer the cheapest but many complain coverage is poor.. some suggest Umobile as it shares the with celcom 2g.. celcom btw is abit expensive but coverage is good.. i'm currently on celcom prepaid is it worth it to change to other telco or should i just stick to celcom as my wife is also using celcom prepaid & she is changing to postpaid later on¬

Probably you could have a try on XOX? Their packages as below;

RM18 - 300MB/month
RM38 - 1GB/month
RM68 - 3GB/month

There is no extra charges. All they provide is only simplicity & flexibility.. smile.gif

Hi, everyone

Question here . Been a postpaid user all my life . Supplementary line under my family with Maxis

I just got a bb 9500, planning to use BBM

Previously on average I don't make many calls, maybe max 10 mins a day on average, but I spam sms's like mad . Maybe around at least 10-25 sms a day, sometimes even more .

So I have a couple of options,

1. switch my current postpaid to prepaid
2. add a package for bbm for my current postpaid
3. get a new prepaid simcard

Any tips ?

you are using corporate family lines or normal family lines..?

if using corporate lines , I suggest you just continue using that postpaid [line] , and just add on the BES ,

but since you just need BBM , so I think adding 3GB BES[the lowest quota is 3GB] is overrated...

3GB BES is around RM 68...

if you using normal family lines , there are entry BIS package , [which suitable for you] , but it is expensive [RM40 for 250MB]

so , I suggest , you just need to buy the new Hotlink prepaid, then.. just subscribe the BIS Bonus Monthly for only RM 20/month , thumbup.gif

hi guys . im thinking of getting a new smartphone but for now im looking at the new sony xperia S . is it more worth to get just the phone by itself which cost around RM1800 + or just get a postpaid plan ?

because i feel its useless to get smartphone without 3G right ? (just my 2 cents )

and mostly i want to use the phone for

surfing than calling/smsing. i reload my phone roughly around RM30-RM40 a month.

pls reccommend me guys ! biggrin.gif

first of all,im in kelantan district area..and my only choice is limited to maxis or celcom only..currently i using celcom exec 50 with rm68 data plan which round up to 118 per month..im not making calls that much but heavy on sms and internet usage..

the thing is,the rate for sms is 0.15sen and sometimes my bill can go up to 130 per month..i only stick to the plan due to the unlimited data..so i would like to ask,is it better for me to opt another no (prepaid) which as i can see,the rate for sms is much lower than any postpaid plan or any other recommendation?

yes you have to pay RM50 plus voice call & sms you used but at flat rate to any numbers locally.
