I think enabling post count, like many has said before this, is a double-edged sword. Yes, people will probably come and post something, but the invariable troll will also be here as well.. Personally, I kinda like the pace here. Just nice for me...
Anyways, I do agree on having a "red alert" banner at top announcing book club's existence. But I suggest having that "announcement" banner not only announcing our subforum, but also some activity that we have here. Maybe something on a smaller scale first (as opposed to the "contest" idea), let's just have a book-swap first? Something like, each of us create a (reasonable) book wish list, then we pair up with another person, and the pair needs to get the book for the other person, something like that.
I believe the "book review" thing is already going on. We are already sharing our opinions on books etc, just that we don't have a proper thread, a standard that we follow for reviewing books (thumbs up, star rating system?). I think the books discussion we have now is more interactive, compared to reading a whole review..
Agreed about the post count. It'll definitely attract spammers and mess this place up. I'd rather don't have post count enabled than have spammers and trolls in here, IMHO Anyways, I do agree on having a "red alert" banner at top announcing book club's existence. How about we create a smalll banner for the LYN Book Club? Something like the one I did for the Retrievers thread *points to sig* Creating an awareness of the club is the first step.
