no problem. been using vaio for almost 3 years now.
the reason why i link that thread is besides asking them, you can see the user feedback too. truth is, i even went through all the replies in that thread from post 1..so ive my own decision to stay with windows os notebook. i go alot of other thing to do. you can still learn about unix if care about using mac osx using virtual machine while windows as core for working and gaming

i think i will stick with the vaio SR rather than macbook...
I am an architecture student so that most of the drawing software should run under window...
better to stick with window rather than keep on bootcamp my macbook and make the macbook easily heat up while using window...

May i know is that i need to pay the extension warranty when i buy vaio or i can pay anytimes before my warranty dead in the first year?

Haven't done much yet, now making the recovery disc.

Wow, Sony Vaio, so stylish, I hope to get one too, but the price just too expensive, some more specs aren't that good if comparing the same price with other brands.

Nothing great about Sony. Its just whether you like the brand or not. As for me I am a Sony man. So I go for it. There are other brands with better specs (Toshiba/HP etc) and cheaper in price. Its just Vaio!

The products that i REALLY like about Sony is their VAIO (design and LCD screen is the best). Second is, their Walkman. I always prefer Walkman than other brand like Apple Ipod. Awesome sound quality ever. The third one is their high end Bravia TV (X series is awesome)

The product that i don't like from Sony is Cybershot, Alpha and personal audio product like earphone and headphone.

And the price is slightly higher than other brands for most of the products.

I'm a Sony fangirl & most of my stuff are of their brand.
Walkman pwns ipod in sound quality! i agree with you Arapan. that's why i never envy people with ipod touch or something

for notebooks, of course others specs are better but with so-so design. it's the best thing in the Windows league.

It all began in 2003, when my father bought me a used laptop (PCG-FX series) for me to finished the final semester project. i never saw a sony notebook & never know they do make laptops, so i made a search....
yeah it's pretty high end price at that time. since then i know what i would want to get in the future if i can get a job after grad then my 1st laptop would be a sony. until now i am very satisfied with their performance & style

my vaio has been a horse for 2.5 yrs now.
it is on 24/7/365
surfing music movies dramas coding works gaming torrenting downloading chatting everything.
no problem before.

branding - based on my usage, its definitely worth the cost. i dont even need a 3 yr extended warranty because i know nothing will break down. i used to have a compaq notebook which i have to send for warranty every 2 months. whats the use of having warranty if you know its something's gonna happen.
quality - carbon fibre. i bring it to classes packed together with my thick books, in my sling bag. no , without any kind of sleeve whatsoever. the pressure from the books does nothing to my notebook. i dropped it about 10 times now and also had a few bangs while standing in the bus. so what?
design - defenitely ahead of its time.
LCD - nuff said .

I have used 3 Vaio. The first was V505 high end series. After usingt for two half years sold it for RM3500/- Bought at RM7988/-
