Frequency division multiplexing (FDM) is a form of signal multiplexing
where multiple baseband signals are modulated on different frequency
carrier waves and added together to create a composite signal.

In the early 90’s, telecommunication networks is changing towards
digital world. With the rapid advancement in the fields of VLSI and
microprocessor, several telecommunication components such as
transmission line and switching has been using digital signals in
their operation.

Stress in Axially Loaded Members

- The stress distribution becomes uniform away the ends(refer to St Venant's Principle)
-Uniform stress distribution is assumed in analysing axially loaded members.

Centralised traffic control (CTC) is a signalling system used by railways. The system consists of a centralised train dispatcher's office that controls railroad switches in the CTC territory and the signals that railway engineers must obey in order to keep the traffic moving safely and smoothly across the railroad. In the dispatcher's office is a graphical depiction of the railroad on which the dispatcher can keep track of trains' locations across the territory that the dispatcher controls. Larger railroads may have multiple dispatcher's offices and even multiple dispatchers for each operating division.

2 types of TDM system:

• PAM TDM – input signal is a PAM signal. The signal will be sent in the form of PAM sample.

• PCM TDM – The input of the system is a
PCM bit output.

• PCM TDM system receive signal in the form of PAM sample. Then this signal is converted to digital form of PCM (involve quantization and coding – ADC) after sampled by the commutator before transmission.
