For my case, there were 5 of them (3 chinese males n 1 female including one Indian guy who was able to speak mandarin and canto) distributing the brochures in front of Bkt Bintang monorail station.

While at their office, they wanted me to bring RM7600 (for gov tax if i win the car) so they can write down the serial number for their record as the money will be used to pay them after receiving my prize which will be given to me on the same day. Question is, what is the prize? They refused to reveal the prize until I bring the money. No mattress in the list of prizes this time. replaced with massage chair. I told them it was dangerous to bring so much cash out and they say it was their company's procedure. wtf.

Luckily my fren googled genki kenko scam and found a blog with the exact same scenario.

did i say i got conned? LoL. sry for causing the confusion. I just went to their office to redeem my prize as promised. but after listening to their BS i told them i don't want their free gift anymore. their empty office made me felt even more suspicious. it's ridiculous to pay for the government tax before getting the car.

you can refer to the website below on the scam process. my case was exactly the same as hers:

Saw a whole bunch of teenagers today distributing those flyers nearby the bridge linking to Berjaya Times Square. Sooo....many victims-to-be. Tried to warn a girl that this is a scam by whispering to her ears, the guy rudely shouted at me "Zou kai!!" (get off!) looking as if he wanna pick up a fight. I just walked off. Bad idea to argue with them when u r outnumbered. One of them even ask "为什么你要这样...??" (why u wanna do this??). Gosh...they just don't see what they did is wrong! Argh! It's frustrating to see how many teens willing to take up this job despite knowing the fact that they r conning others hard earned money. If they don feel guilty of what they doing, he wouldn't hv reacted so negatively when I whispered to that girl.

u r so selfish la. would u like 2 be treated the same way if u unfortunately fall into their trap next time? touchwood .....  orrrrr u r in fact one of those crap??? i helped last time not once but twice! and i'll do the same whenever/wherever i c them conning around! damn to them! my GOD will shield me, i aint afraid. even laws/police/government cant do a single thing.

I don blame him for being selfish. In this crazy world, u'll nv know what these scammers might do to u when u stand in the name of justice. Eg: scratch your car, kidnap n gang rape, splash acid etc etc

I really want to help the victims too. But they operate in a big group. Today they hv like 15 of them. They don look well educated at all judging from the way they talk n behave. I'm a lady dressed up in my working attire but they acted like they could beat u up even if u r a lady. worry that they will recognize me n try to harm me for breaking their rice bowl. U'll never know what these rascals might do. Cuz all they do is think bout their own profit n not care bout how pitiful their victims are.

they r super duper good @ acting so u can play acting with them too ie pretending 2 b friend with their prey etc. there'll always b a way unless u dont try.

All I could do each time I see them is contact the police n report their whereabouts, though I doubt any actions are taken.

U can save these unsuspecting victims once or twice. Do that more frequently they will recognize u already. I respect you for putting the effort to help those victims...truth is, we can't save everyone.

More should be done by our government to create more awareness. Though news of this scam has been reported countless times, they should nv stop reminding the public. They should make it a big sensation that every soul in the country knows about it thus making it difficult for the scammers to cari makan.
Eg:

1) place more banners and posters around high traffic areas.

2) enforce the law n implement higher fines if caught of misleading ppl into believing they hv a chance of winning something that don't exist.

3) place police in high traffic places especially Berjaya times square n Sg Wang so they won't dare to operate there. These scammers are doing it so openly that it's depressing to see no authorities taking any actions and passer-bys could only watch helplessly.

If anyone from the gov reading this, please take immediate action. Prevent this group of young adults from a bleak future. I'm sure these teens hv been brainwashed by their superior and blinded by the money without knowing the consequences of getting a bad record and fines once caught.

These victims being unaware of this scam, scammers are also unaware of the fines applicable.

FYI

Mangsa sempat menghubungi polis.

Here u go, it was published a year ago in Berta Harian. Yes, they injured the datuk breaking his two fingers and hurting his 20 year old staff (back injured by knife cut). They were being bashed up for 15 mins. He was trying to help a 60 year old elderly to get back his RM6k. Fortunately the police arrived on time n arrested them all. But they still sustained pretty serious injury.
