Similar types of scams actually go from door to door too.

They came over to my neighborhood in a van, then about 4-5 people went off to every house separately.

A guy came over to my place, asked me to scratch some shit which I did. And wow I've won a Perdana V6. He was so excited and thrilled and kept telling me that I should treat him a great feast or something, since I've won a huge prize.

He then said I need to pay them a deposit first before I can collect my prize. I can't quite remember the amount but its definitely more than RM3000. And he also handed me a few other coupons.

I told him I don't have that kind of cash with me so, byebye I guess. Then he raised his voice saying "But its a car you know!! Perdana V6 ahh! Not SAGA!". I kept refusing and every time I do he lowered the deposit required, till it was RM500

I told him why not he help me pay the deposit. And when I get the car and sell it off, I'll give him back a lot more. Like 10k also no problem

He looked disappointed, staring at the floor for almost a minute and said, "We've already taken an oath, we can't lie to our employers etc"
