Hi all, I would like to know,??
is it to get good sound we need to have good amp since good amp can decode to better sound eventhough the sound come from " cap Ayam" DVD player
or
We need to have good DVD player ( eg. Pioneer 610 or Pioneer 410 ) so our Amp can just amplified the sound.
Please advise, since I'm still newbie in Home Theater. FYI I'm using Yammy RX-V361 only.
Thanks.

'good' or branded player will give you more choice of connectivity like HDMI, Coaxial...

IMHO, TS is asking, assuming that he has a good source (eg original DVD-9), is it sufficient to use 'cap ayam' DVD player to get the best sound (in combination with his RV-361 receiver) I think if you use digital coaxial/optical connection to your RV-361, it's sufficient (though not 100% due to cheaper connecting components inside) to get the most out of it provided that the disc transport/lens is well-built. The weakness of majority cap ayam is just the video part (but not all, some are quite good with lots of features to play around/tweak) and bad user manual/guide

Pioneer, LG, Sony, Philips etc are considered as consumer brands type, therefore "better brand" but not "Branded" like Denon dvd player, Onkyo, Optomo etc..... Pioneer, Philips, Sony which considered better one, IMO no sound improvement difference, only PQ improvement because they have upscaling capability. Another plus point is they are not sensitive in reading pirated disc!

I have Pioneer DV-676, Pioneer DV-400, GIEC HVD DVD player, Meck DVDP, and Liteon HDD/DVD recorder.
Of these, Pioneer has the best sound quality. The worst would be Meck. This is done by using the same source (LOTR Fellowship Of The Ring -Region 1 DVD).
I guess that Pioneer's 96Hz / 24bit Audio DAC is superior than the rest, which makes the difference.

so which one is better, good performance racing car or smooth open road?
we need it both, AFAIK source player is more critical than receiver / ampli

Just get back to basic. Connect branded dvdp direct to TV. Then use cap ayam do same thing. You can see why its worth buying the branded. Adding amp is just like tambah ajinomoto to your cooking only. If your cooking already crap, tambah 3 botol pun tak sedap jugak Anyway good and cheap branded dvdp would be Pioneer 410V or Philips 3996K.
